GAINESVILLE -- Here's a developing situation worth watching this spring. The cornerbacks might actually be pretty good.
How much have the corners improved since last season? Hard to tell, but so far Wondy Pierre-Louis and Joe Haden are making Tim Tebow look like an average quarterback. Now, since we KNOW that Tebow is a great quarterback, then that must mean the cover guys are getting a little better.
Pierre-Louis, a rising junior, had two interceptions and five pass break-ups during Wednesday's practice. Haden, who'll be a sophomore in the fall, has had his fair share of picks, too.
EDWARDS MAKING A PUSH
Lorenzo Edwards: That's a name you'll probably be hearing a lot more about pretty soon. Edwards, a rising sophomore, appears to be the Gators best linebacker not named Brandon Spikes. Expect the 6-2, 234-pound Orlando native to start working with the first-team defense before the fall.
KICKING WOES ANSWERED?
There hasn't been an all-SEC-caliber kicker in Gainesville in quite awhile now. Florida coach Urban Meyer thinks he has found one in freshman Caleb Sturgis. Sturgis, a St. Augustine product, has the leg for 60-yard field goals and has been impressing onlookers and players alike during spring practice.

Marlins more popular than Gators??? Now I have heard everything, I bet we have more fans at our home football games (limited number) than the Marlins have in their much more numerous home games!!!

Vulcan,
Do you see where I said the Marlins were more popular then the Gators numb nuts? I don't, and obviously they aren't since the Gators have been playing football since football was invented and the Marlins have only been playing baseball since 1993... Oh yeah the Marlins have as many championships as the Gators do... 2...
This is a Miami newspaper where the Marlins play, not Gainesville!!!

hey Marlins loser...they are terrible...no one shows up for their games...no one wants to read about them but you...Go Gators
Posted by: Rich | March 31, 2008 at 10:37 AM
FUK the Gators and FUK u too!! This is Miami, not that trailor trash riddled, god forsaken dump of a city Gainesville!!
Don't be surprised if my Hurricanes go up to your house and beat you... I would love to see the facial expression on Urban BuyHer after that...
Marlins= 2 championships in 14 years of
existence
Gators= 2 championships in at least 75 years
of existence
I don't even need to remind you how many the Canes have, or our current winning streak and overall domination of you guys in head-to head matchups!

The secondary is a year older and probably getting better but I would not use Tebow as a way to gauge the cornerbacks because he is an average quarterback, he throws ducks and runs before he looks for his second option, limited quarterback so I can see how the cornerbacks are keying in on him. Don't give me that Heisman crap, the majority of his runs were 1 yard runs that should have went to his running backs, no wonder why they are leaving.
Go Gators and Go Marlins!

Tebow is stinking the place up because he is looking for Harvin on every play and Harvin has been ruined by Meyer.
Here come the beating, gators!

Tebow an average QB? Yeah, first soph to ever win the Heisman. Ridiculous passing stats. Ridiculous rushing stats. 1 yard runs? Do me a favor kid...go back and research all of his TD runs. Tell me how many were 1 yarders. Treat yourself.
Canes fans...who is your qb anyway? Do YOU guys even know??
Losers

I doubt mart can find Jersey on a map. You are sniffing our tail pipes despite the last few years. We are still a more storied program than you red necks.

Hey NJ South Grad.."despite the last few years" LOL..Better keep living in the past because scUM never see the those days again. scUM actually has to play in a conference now and you can see the difference--no more home-cooked schedules = UM losses..and w/ Donna Shalalalalala, no more sliding on academics. If scUM played in the SEC all those years, they'd be lucky to have ONE MNC.
