Meyer and Tebow respond to Shannon's comments, here are the audio files

GAINESVILLE -- It was anything but boring on Monday here in hogtown. Miami coach Randy Shannon's comments on Sunday about Florida coach Urban Meyer fired up UF quarterback Tim Tebow. Gator Clause is the only place you're going to hear the audio file for free.

Just like Shannon chose not to call out Florida's coach by name, Florida's coach played along and did the same. Meyer and Tebow praised Miami's defensive coordinator, which has been Meyer's less-than-subtle way of giving Shannon no credit for Miami's impressive defense. Tebow followed suit.

This is all very silly, folks. Enough with the backhanded compliments. I wish these guys would just kiss and make up...And I sooooooo hope that Tebow sticks around for another season. If he does, I'm calling it right now. Florida vs. Miami in the 2010 national championship game. We'll dredge up these quotes if that happens.

(The quote from Tebow about jail is pretty funny.)

-jo-

1.Tebow defends Meyer, gets fired up about Shannon comments.

2.Tebow talks about Miami defensive coordinator.

3.Meyer credits Miami's talented players.

4.Meyer: "I learned a long time ago to just coach your team."

5.Meyer on the proper way to "communicate."

Maybe we will kiss them in a bowl game!

"We were playing the University of Hawaii – I mean, Miami"- Tim Tebow. I love it, they are officially "The Who?"

You have to win more games than you lose to make a bowl game. Don't hold your breath.

Goodman,

Can you elaborate on what Urban means by proper way to communicate? I dont get the context.

"better people off the field and on the field?" wow.....i guess urban was chopped too by timmy t.

"Sometimes when you do things, and people see what type of person you really are, you turn a lot of people off. Now, whatever you want to get out of that, I won't say it again. But it helped us. It helped us more than you'll ever know.''-

Jack,

Listen to the quote. Meyer throws that little comment in. He compliments Miami's DC and then says that's the way to communicate. It's another shot at Shannon.

TXCane,

I was thinking the same thing and went back and added that thought to the post.

-jo-

Lol. Pathetic. Jo, you write for the Herald. You don't have to play to the home crowd. Didn't you take any journalism classes? Where's the objectivity?

Even if the Canes won out, a 1-loss ACC team isn't making the national championship this year. There will be an abundance of 1-loss teams -- the ACC won't be the ones getting the nod if they field one of them. And anyway, there's zero chance of the Canes winning out. Zero.

Nvm. You said 2010. Still playing to the home crowd, still zero percent chance of UM making the championship game in 2010. But not quite as glaringly homerish as if it were for 2009.

Waaandy is an unbelievable wanker!

Time for the Vols!

Jo,

I am willing to bet you that Miami DOES NOT even make a BCS bowl game much less a National championship, this year or next. Please do not tell me you do not bet.

The Canes are so overhyped it isnt even funny.
They have a Pop Warner offense with a Pop Warner head coach and they are all of a sudden going to win a bunch of games this year and a National Title next year. Too much drinking and weed this weekend and drinking that ridiculous Cane Kool-Aid.

Just how are the Canes over-hyped? Ya'll better focus on Tennessee, otherwise you will be over-hyped!

PJ- aka Mr. Circus has a new last name. He was a punk anyways.
Marcus Buchanon? Did you mean Ramon Buchanon? He disliked the gators but happened to be from an area they have a lot of support.
Josh Jarboe- punk who won't make it anywhere anyways
Brandon Harris- Who did he ever commit to to be able to de-commit?

Shannon might want to STOP CRYING, and explain why he went for a 4th and 3 with a 45-7 lead and 4:25 remaining in the game against Charleston Southern. The guy is by far the biggest hypocrite on the planet, and so are the fans.

jo

you must be kidding, or pandering to your fans. UM in the title game next year? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
put down the pipe jo, seriously.

Guys,

Has anyone watched the ACC lately? Based on what I saw on Saturday, Miami could easily win that conference in one year and play for a national title. Just say'n.

-jo-

Elian Gonzalez for Mayor of Miami

Win the ACC? Maybe. The conference is sorry. Win a national title... you must be smoking good weed.

Brandon Harris was committed to Florida at one point? You're talking about Ice's kid, right? The same Ice Harris that's now employed by Miami, right? Ummmm.

-jo-

So, why is not one SoFL writer taking up the fact that Urban mentioned that his teams was the younger and inexperienced one on the field the other day? Does it affect the cane propaganda of a young freshman laden team only losing by 23 to the gators? Just saying...

UF FANS. LOL YOU GUYS ARE FUNNY. YALL WON ITS OVER. WE (AS IN THE U) HAVE NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF WE PLAYED A GOOD GAME AGAINST A better TEAM. YOU GUYS ARE BETTER THEN US. OK WE GET IT. BUT YOU STILL GOTTA CATCH UP

UM 28
UF 26

YOU FLORIDA GAYTURDS OR THE MOST OVER HYPED TEAM I EVER SEEN. LETS REMEMBER URBAN CRYIERS SPREAD OFFENSE HELPED HIM GERT NATIONAL PRAISE. BUT IN UTAH HE HAD NO ATHLETES WHICH IS WHAT THE SPREAD WAS MADE FOR. TO COMPETE WITH ATHLETES COACHES STARTED GOING WITH THE SPREAD. U PUT THAT SPREAD WITH ATHLETES AND YOU SHOULD HAVE ONE OF THE BEST OFFENSE IN THE LEAGUE. BUT SERIOUSLY IT DOESN'T HELP THE KIDS WHEN THEY GET TO THE NEXT LEVEL. PLAYING AT FLORIDA ACTUALLY RETARDS PLAYERS DEVELOPMENT AND THATS WHY THE ONLY GOOD PLAYER THE GATORS HAVE PUT OUT IS REGGIE NELSON.

GREATNESS we produce nfl players like no other collages. the GAYTURDS aren't even close.

Goodman,

As a follow up on my earlier post, what is your take on randi shannon blatantly lying about his friend walter odom getting killed in gainesville. I am sure Manny Navarro did the interview and he retracted that comment after people pointed out the lie. So, why weren't any questions asked of shannon about that? I guess journalistic integrity applies to everything but the cane program is it?

what about jessie palmer, isnt he on tv. chad jackson got booted over the weekend. deshawn wynn what ever happened to that guy?
jaber is crying now that tom bradys hurts....

That is quite a few NFL...Too bad they cannot win in college. IS it the coaching?

gatortime,

the weapons training and drugs/steroids at miami helps them prepare for the NFL life...

Shannon and barrow are the bagmen and Luke Campbell arranges the supplies.

Jack,

As I recall, that was addressed when it happened.

-jo-

Goodman,

what was your commentary on that? Can you help recall or give me a link? Thanks.

It's funny, any time a Cane fan feels threatened, they automatically bring up the NFL...like anyone cares. It's like a gag reflex. Speaking of gagging, if I hear one more time that Miami played all of these Freshmen I am going to choke on my own vomit. Obviously the UM P.R. Department got a hold of ESPN, because this ridiculous lie that UM's Freshmen hung with the Gators for 3 quarters keeps getting regurgitated.

The fact is, the only Freshman that did squat in that game was Spence. The rest of your linebackers are Seniors and Juniors, and the core of your line as well. Your secondary looked like swiss cheese every time Tebow found time to pass.

Watch the game and notice who your playmakers were on defense, they were your upperclassmen who you and your coach continue to neglect in your attempts to justify your play this year.

miamiboisince85, maybe you should be saying that to ALL the other Cane fans, and not Gator fans, because here we are, it's Tuesday, and Cane fans are STILL crying about the game. So, I think you need to be telling them the game is over. That's VERY FUNNY calling him urban crier, consider YOUR coach has done enough crying for EVERY COACH in America COMBINED. Very hypocritical of you, but oh well, you guys are the biggest hypocrites in college football, so I'd expect nothing less.

Jack,

I think Herald columnist Greg Cote mentioned it in one of his columns. But that seems like a while ago, right?

Jay,

Nice one of the gag reflex comment. Seriously, though, recruits like the thought of one day making it to the NFL and I think that's why Miami fans and coaches always bring it up. Miami had more NFL players on opening-day rosters this season (46) than any other college football team. Florida had 31 and Florida State had 41.

-jo-

Jay, you're totally right, it's HILARIOUS how that's all the Cane fans talk about now. How many times have they said the Gators were sorry for going 9-4 last year?? I mean, how many Freshman started last year, and were we not starting 9 new players on D??? How funny, now that's all they talk about with their team. Here is a perfect example as to why they are the BIGGEST HYPOCRITES IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL. Lets see if they can go 9-4, and they still aren't starting as many freshmen as the Gators did last year.

The best thing to come out of Miami? Dirty Sanchez. Vive Castro.

Here's why Urb/Herb tacked the FG w/only 25 secs in the game:

UF had not beaten UM since 1985. They were so desperate to do it they left the starting unit in even after victory was assured just to cover the spread, for the BCS's sake. Urb/Herb already comes across as an arrogant, self righteous, smug SOB but what would have happened had a starter been injured while he was stroking his & UF's ego? Would have looked pretty stupid. Oh & BTW, for the UF receiver Murphy who said the University is for championships? Hey Lou, last time anybody checked, the U had 5 national championships & how many does UF have? Oh. Lastly, Jesse Palmer on ESPN's says he had no problem w/the FG & couldn't understand Shannon's comments about it. Where did u go to school, Jesse? Oh. And Gator nation wonders why they are so reviled. They belong in the same group as NY Jet & Notre Dame fans.

Gators suck, stop trying 2 play us when we are in rebuilding mood, play us when we r good. When we played in early 2000 that was when we was just coming off suspension and no1 thought we'd b any good so ya'll wanna play us, then after that butt kickin in da bowl game ya'll aint want to play us any more. Then larry coker bring us down and ya'll all of a sudden wanna put us back on to play. Stop being scary

PS:

Live it up, Florida. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while & last Sat's game was "dem Gators" turn. So, of course, Urb wanted to make the score look as good as possible. He may not be around in another 25 yrs when/IF UF beats UM again.
