PROJECTING THE FIELD

Gator Clause hands down an educated guess at the two-deep depth charts entering two-a-days.

GAINESVILLE -- After much debate among the editorial board, here's our collective opinion of how the starting line-ups shake out entering two-a-days. We had some fun with some of the formations, so enjoy ...

BASE OFFENSE (3 WRs)
LT Carl Johnson, Matt Patchan
LG Maurkice Pouncey, James Wilson, Jonotthan Harrison
C Sam Robey, Maurkice Pouncey
RG Mike Pouncey, Maurice Hurt
RT Marcus Gilbert, David Young, Nick Alajajian
TE Aaron Hernandez, Desmond Parks
WR Deonte Thompson, Frankie Hammond Jr.
WR Riley Cooper, Carl Moore
SLOT David Nelson, Jeff Demps
QB Tim Tebow, John Brantley
RB Emmanuel Moody, Chris Rainey, Jeff Demps

4-WR OFFENSE (or 5 WRs, depending on the TE's role)
LT Carl Johnson, Matt Patchan
LG Maurkice Pouncey, James Wilson, Jonotthan Harrison
C Sam Robey, Maurkice Pouncey
RG Mike Pouncey, Maurice Hurt
RT Marcus Gilbert, David Young, Nick Alajajian
TE Aaron Hernandez, Desmond Parks
WR Carl Moore, Frankie Hammond Jr.
WR Riley Cooper, Frankie Hammond Jr.
WR Deonte Thompson, Frankie Hammond Jr.
SLOT David Nelson, Jeff Demps
QB Tim Tebow, John Brantley

I-FORMATION OFFENSE
LT Carl Johnson, Matt Patchan
LG Maurkice Pouncey, James Wilson, Jonotthan Harrison
C Sam Robey, Maurkice Pouncey
RG Mike Pouncey, Maurice Hurt
RT Marcus Gilbert, David Young, Nick Alajajian
TE Aaron Hernandez, Desmond Parks
WR David Nelson, Carl Moore, Frankie Hammond Jr.
WR Riley Cooper, Deonte Thompson
QB Tim Tebow, John Brantley
RB Emmanuel Moody, Chris Rainey, Jeff Demps, Christopher Scott
FB T.J. Pridemore, Rick Burgess, Christopher Scott

BASE DEFENSE (4-3)
DE Jermaine Cunningham, Duke Lemmens, William Green
DT Terron Sanders, Omar Hunter
NT Lawrence Marsh, Jaye Howard
DE Carlos Dunlap, Justin Trattou
SLB Brandon Hicks, A.J. Jones
MLB Brandon Spikes, Ryan Stamper, Jon Bostic
WLB Ryan Stamper, Jon Bostic, Dustin Doe
CB Janoris Jenkins, Wondy Pierre-Louis
CB Joe Haden, Markihe Anderson
FS Major Wright, Will Hill
SS Ahmad Black, Dorian Munroe

BASE NICKEL DEFENSE (4-2-5, Florida will use this often)
DE Jermaine Cunningham, Duke Lemmens, William Green
DT Terron Sanders, Omar Hunter
NT Lawrence Marsh, Jaye Howard
DE Carlos Dunlap, Justin Trattou
SLB Brandon Hicks, A.J. Jones
WLB Brandon Spikes, Ryan Stamper, Jon Bostic
NB Janoris Jenkins, Will Hill
CB Wondy Pierre-Louis, Markihe Anderson
CB Joe Haden, Markihe Anderson
FS Major Wright, Will Hill
SS Ahmad Black, Dorian Munroe

Considering the depth at safety, I also wouldn't be surprised to see the Gators experiment this spring with a "33 stack" nickel defense or a variation of the "33 stack," which is often referred to as a "3-5-3" nickel defense. I'd give it a look, anyway.

"33 STACK" NICKEL DEFENSE
DE Jermaine Cunningham, Duke Lemmens, William Green
NT Lawrence Marsh, Jaye Howard
DE Carlos Dunlap, Justin Trattou
SLB Brandon Hicks, A.J. Jones
MLB Brandon Spikes, Ryan Stamper, Jon Bostic
WLB Ryan Stamper, Dustin Doe, Jon Bostic
CB Janoris Jenkins, Markihe Anderson
CB Joe Haden, Markihe Anderson
SS Will Hill, Dorian Munroe
FS Major Wright, Will Hill
SS Ahmad Black, Dorian Munroe

Florida also uses a "Joker" defense, which is basically a 3-4. This would be a good way to get defensive end William Green on the field.

JOKER DEFENSE (3-4)
DE Jermaine Cunningham, Duke Lemmens
NT Lawrence Marsh, Jaye Howard
DE Carlos Dunlap, Justin Trattou
SLB Brandon Hicks, A.J. Jones
MLB Brandon Spikes, Ryan Stamper, Jon Bostic
MLB Ryan Stamper, Dustin Doe, Jon Bostic
WLB William Green
CB Janoris Jenkins, Markihe Anderson
CB Joe Haden, Markihe Anderson
FS Major Wright, Will Hill
SS Ahmad Black, Dorian Munroe

That 33 stack would be just sick.

That base offense sure looks potent.

Lose the slot receiver in that set, bring in a blocking fullback and watch Tim e-file his taxes in the pocket while waiting for receivers to get open.

Great post Jo. And the anticipation salivation continues.

1, 2, 3, JINX!

Man, forget the great talent starting - just look at all that QUALITY depth. I love it!!

Did you forget that Trattou started 13 of 14 games? Or that Moody was the 3rd RB at best last yr?
