GAINESVILLE -- The University of Florida announced on Friday that basketball player Allan Chaney is not returning for the 2009-2010 season.
"Allan, his family and I have spoken and we have mutually decided that he will be transferring from the University of Florida," UF coach Billy Donovan said in a statement. "I've enjoyed coaching Allan and I would like to help him and his family in any way possible to ensure the best path for his future."
A freshman, Chaney played a limited role last season and was suspended for the NIT by Florida coach Billy Donovan. The loss of Chaney is an interesting one, considering Florida recruit Deshawn Painter, a 6-9 forward, recently said he is no longer interested in playing for UF. Painter signed with Florida but will likely be released from his letter of intent.
With the loss of Chaney, Florida returns 10 players from last season, including guard Nick Calathes, who has declared himself eligible for the upcoming NBA Draft. Two 2009 recruits have signed with Florida (guard Kenny Boynton Jr. and forward Erik Murphy) but UF is expected to add a third player, possibly guard Eric Bledsoe of Birmingham (Ala.) Parker, who recently named the Gators' as his top team.

Looks like Donovan filled his transfer/non-signee quota for the semester.
