HOOVER, Ala. — Former University of Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen might be the new head football coach at Mississippi State, but part of his heart is still in Gainesville.
Mullen, who worked with Florida coach Urban Meyer for 10 years at Bowling Green, Utah and Florida, got misty-eyed on Wednesday at the Southeastern Conference Media Days when speaking about his relationship with Florida quarterback Tim Tebow.
The emotion was provoked by a light-hearted question: Now that you’re at Mississippi “State would you “share any dirt on Tebow?”--
"I’ll say this about Tim Tebow. If you get the opportunity to met him, spend time with him, he’s one of the most unique people in the world,” Mullen said. “I probably have more respect for him than anyone I’ve ever met … Just an amazing kid. Just an amazing kid. He taught me a very valuable lesson in life: If you can make an impact on someone’s life, it’s your obligation to do that. You know, and he is one of the most amazing young people out there.”
