GAINESVILLE -- Florida coach Urban Meyer said on Thursday that freshman tight end Desmond Parks will likely redshirt this season. Parks dislocated his kneecap this spring.
Thursday's news leaves UF with one tight end this season, Aaron Hernandez. Meyer said on Thursday that defensive end Justin Trattou could be used as a tight end during goal-line situations this season. If Hernandez is injured this season, then UF will likely play without a tight end and incorporate the fullback position into the base offense. Redshirt freshman T.J. Pridemore is the Gators' first-string fullback.
--Meyer said on Thursday that his primary go-to option inside the red zone are Hernandez, running back Jeff Demps and receiver Riley Cooper. Meyer said he would like to be able to rely on receiver Deonte Thompson this season but Thompson must first earn Meyer's trust.
--Defensive tackle Lawrence Marsh sprained his ankle on Thursday. He's out until Monday, according to Meyer.

Does Urban Meyer even know what a fullback is?

Jo, what's the issue with Deonte Thompson? Dropping passes, running wrong routes or
off-field problems?
