Janoris Jenkins to nickelback could lead to playing time for cornerback Moses Jenkins

GAINESVILLE -- Here's a link to my news brief in Monday's paper concerning safety Ahmad Black's return to practice. LINK!

Now, here's the supplement to that news brief because there are a few aspects to the story that are important but could not fit into the paper.

UF coach Urban Meyer indicated on Friday that sophomore cornerback Janoris Jenkins could be used as a nickelback this season. That would free sophomore Will Hill to focus on safety. Meyer also said on Friday that cornerbacks Moses Jenkins (Lauderdale Lakes Boyd Anderson), a junior, and Markihe Anderson, a redshirt senior, are competing for playing time, presumably, for when Janoris Jenkins slides inside to play nickelback.

"Will Hill was the guy who played the nickel last year but the negative of having Will Hill play the nickel is he doesn't have the man-to-man capabilities," Meyer said. "Obviouisly, with Janoris at the nickel, you can play man-to-man and we're a man-to-man team.
"But Hill can still be an excellent defender. That's a key component to watch the next 10 days."
