Florida Gators do not watch SpongeBob SquarePants

GAINESVILLE -- Florida coach Urban Meyer seemed to take an indirect shot at the Miami Hurricanes (and a direct shot at SpongeBob SquarePants!) on Tuesday when asked a seemingly innocuous question about the difficulties players face who are either watching football from the sidelines due to an injury or the depth chart.

Spongebob_embedded_prod_affiliate_56 "The worst thing that can happen to a player is he sits home and watches TV or SpongeBob or whatever the heck those kids watch," Meyer said.

[PICTURED, A good quarterback and a cartoon.]

For those Gators fans not familiar with the link between the Miami Hurricanes and SpongeBob SquarePants, I'll catch you up to speed. After defeating the Oklahoma Sooners, Miami quarterback Jacory Harris told his team that they weren't allowed to watch ESPN. They could only watch SpongeBob. LINK! and LINK!

Coincidence or just the good-natured ribbing of a rival program? Either way, Gator Clause thanks Meyer and SpongeBob for making our job that much easier.
