GAINESVILLE -- A win tonight against South Carolina would go a long way in returning the Gators' men's basketball team to the NCAA Tournament. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
Florida is currently tied with Tennessee for third in the Southeastern Conference behind Vanderbilt and Kentucky. The Gators defeated South Carolina 58-56 on Jan. 23 at the O'Connell Center. Florida's RPI is currently around 50. The Gators (17-6, 6-3) have won six of their last seven games since losing back-to-back games to Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
South Carolina guard Devan Downey sprained his ankle on Monday, according to a report in The State. LINK! Downey scored 36 points against Florida earlier this season. He was held out of practice on Tuesday and wore a protective boot. Downey is expected to play on Wednesday.
--Speaking of South Carolina, check out this bit of unfortunate news about a former UF commitment. LINK!

This is what the university of FELONS (oops i mean florida) prepares its 4-5 star recruits 2 b;
bible salesmen,
underwear models,
would u like them smothered & scattered,
2 b a bachelor contestant,
alachua county jail residents,
a huntley client,
how 2 buy a trailer with no money down,
This is what THE 'U' does with 2-3 stars recruits;
5 wins & 1 loss THIS decade against the GAtors, including 2 bowl victories,
11 all-pros,
4 players of the decade at thier posistion (Lewis, Reed, Sapp, Hester) & not 1 GAtor in the top 5 at ANY posistion;
2nd best team of THIS decade to USC & the best GAtors could do was the 8th best of THIS decade.
NOTICE TO ALL GAtors, NOTICE I'M TALKIN ABOUT THIS DECADE......

drapp, Not that it makes it right but the reason some cane fans come over here is because of whats happening on the Canes blogs. There is a certain person who posts on them 24/7 causing problems. The Canes hearald blog has to approve comments now because of this scumbag. Like I said does'ent make it right but it is what it is.

well joe we got 1, played for another. so big deal.
5-1 record versus you girls this decade (with the 2 bowl victories).
The question is why don't you girls play us every year then?
If your so good with all the 4-5 star recruits u'all get and the piddling low 2-3 star recruits we get, it should fit right in with the way you girls schedule cream puffs for your non-conference games (we play Ohio State & Pittsburgh next year, who do u play?).
The GAtor fan should be demanding fooley to schedule us.

Good for you for playing OSU & Pitt - with the money you earn for playing those games you will be able to pay for more vacations for 4-5 star recruits, and factor those loses with UNC or FSU or VaTech and it equals another mediocre season.
It's 2010, canes are living in the past.You guys are starting to sound like the '72 dolphins.

David -- you are making the argument of irrelevance for us (thank you). There is no upside to playing UM (neither from a SOS perspective or general interest). I know you are a Johnny-come-lately to the UM/FSU/Gator football world, but the topic of Gators playing canes was debated ad nauseum over 20 yrs ago by people that forget more when they sneeze they you will ever know about football in your entire life.
SI did a story on this back in 1982 (9/13/82 issue -- Wayne Peace cover) -- it explains things pretty well.
I understand your aversion for reason so I'd understand if you choose to ignore this article -- I recommend you read it though (READ it not just look at the pictures). It's tough to put away the sweat sock I'm sure, but it's worth doing so just this once.
The only way I could see Jeremy Foley adding the canes would be if we get jobbed with SOS (ala Auburn 2004).

That's a lame-o reason. "Mom! He won't stop touching me!" Act an 8 yr old cane fan and expect to be treated like one. How do you know its not canes fool and sara cane that are posting on the canes blog as Gators?
