Addazio speaks to Gator Club of Miami

GAINESVILLE -- Amazingly, I haven't received any emails from excited Gators fans regarding Steve Addazio's visit to Miami. Hello, Gators fans! Where are you? Is it true that only about 50 fans showed up for the Gator Gathering? That's the information I received from colleague Barry Jackson, who attended the event.

I spoke with Addazio briefly on Thursday during a conference call and he said Gator Gathering was "great." During the same conference call, Addazio said that he didn't know if UF coach Urban Meyer would be attending the Southeastern Conference spring meetings June 1-4 at the Sandestin Hilton.

Addazio has become the UF football team's public mouthpiece this offseason. The offensive coordinator has taken Meyer's place at several Gator Gatherings and represented UF during the SEC's coaches conference call on Thursday. For whatever reason, Addazio would not address the regional recruiting assignments of his fellow assistant coaches during the current high school evaluation period. Spring football for Florida high schools begins next week. Addazio did say during the conference call that he expects UF to field one of the best offensive lines in the country this fall. UF returns four starters along the offensive line.

Listed are the regional recruiting assignments for the Gators' assistant coaches. Of note, co-defensive coordinator/cornerbacks coach Teryl Austin does not have an assigned region in the state of Florida.

Chuck Heater, co-defensive coordinator/safeties: Panhandle to Tallahassee area.

Brian White, tight ends: Alachua County and north-central Florida.

Scot Loeffler, quarterbacks: Jacksonville area down to Flagler County and also Marion County.

D.J. Durkin, linebackers: Daytona Beach area and down the coast to Martin County

Stan Drayton, running backs: Orlando and Lakeland areas and also Miami-Dade.

Dan McCarney, defensive line: Tampa Bay area.

Steve Addazio, offensive coordinator/offensive line: Manatee and Sarasota down to Collier County and across the Everglades to Glades and Hendry counties.

Zach Azzanni, wide receivers: Palm Beach and Broward counties.

Hey jo, Nothing about Urban once again covering up positive drug tests for gator football players? I get it, you have to be very careful about what you write. I dont know if any gator fans will be on hand to ask Addazio about recruiting Patchan away from UM but I know alot of Canes fans that would like to thank him.

Patchan laughed at U clowns.

He also did his assignment correctly jealous clown. TEBOW missed the blitz, not Patchan U clown.

Randy is the worst recruiter in the state.

Patchan saw what a clown he is.

He will be duckin like Ginn in the pros!!

Dont forget Ray Ray and da Ravens once a year too!!

Wait till Ray snaps Timmy in two on MNF and throws up Da U!!

Posted by: J24...and counting | April 28, 2010 at 08:57 AM

And Cane fans are laughing at him. Whats he known for at florida since he signed. Getting shot in the back and almost getting tebow killed. LMFAO, dude is A TRAIN WRECK!

Maybe Addazio will talk about how the Gaytors love to schedule cupcake teams and are scared to play Miami every year!

No, he'll talk about what a bad-ass conference the SEC is.

The homophobe Cane nation whiners are the only ones going peepee in the wind on this! Waaaaahhhhhh, nobody wants to play us wwwwwaaaaaaaaaah. We suck and its everybody else's fault, wwwaaaaaaaaahhhhh.

Can it get any worse? According to http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/college/gators/os-uf-babik-0428,0,5686879.story apparently not. Like they say, it's great to be a Florida Gator (tee hee hee..).

What's Randy talking about on his tour-de-force? How great the canes used to be?

Jo -

what are your thoughts about Jamarcus Russell being the biggest draft bust of ALL TIME in the NFL? Word is bookies in England are giving 2:1 odds on Timmy taking that monicker by 2012. Amazing the misperception of athletes from the SEC as being legit, no?

Y'all just racist against Latinos! If this was some whitey-white guy we wouldn't be seeing this in the press.

Cupcake teams? The SEC is the best conference there is!!!!!! ACC, bite me!

Jo - can you weigh in on why Canes players in the NFL have a much higher success rate than those from Gator Nation? Are they simply inferior athletes or does it have to do with their gimmick system they run that essentially makes them underdeveloped? I realize the level of competition they play against is watered down so most GM's apply a multiplier when assessing them for drafts (i.e. 4 star in college = 2 star in pros). I'm considering doing my thesis on this.

SEC PC -- I saw Jamarcus Russell fumble on the goal line against the Gators his senior year, then choke against Auburn and look insignificant in games when it REALLY counted. The Raiders should have seen this. He was an OK player on a great team. Never in his career did he put the team on his shoulders and win on the big stage in college. Didn't he hold out his rookie year also? LOL

Tebow may become pedestrian but he won't be the DISASTER JR was.

Time will tell Dude...as it always does.

TGS -- perhaps you can create a regression model that shows the relationship between number of players put in the NFL and championships won with them. That model should show UM with (at least) 4 NC's in recent years.

UM either squandered that talent needlessly or the NFL thing is bogus...hmmmmmm

Matt Patchan is a bum

We have a drug policy here!" Meyer said in a fiery speech. "You smoke marijuana, you won't play football!"

Just ask Percy and Aaron.

Did that ELSC...it correlated to their 5 'ships and playing in numerous others. What had me scratching my head though was the lack of correlation to Gators success on college level but underperforming on the NFL stage. There's no smoke & mirrors with the NFL as it is the most tried and true marker of talent. I suspect additional research will conclude with the undeniable amount of talent that resides in So FL. My action plan to Gator coaches would be to set up a double wide down there and recruit, recruit, recruit because central and north FL pale in comparison to the horses down south.

WHY DONT U COVER MULTIPLE FAILED DRUG TESTS BY HERNANDEZ?

Talk about journalism!!

Urban is running a communist regime up there!

On your first point, I would attribute to synergies and coaching. By the way, the only people I find chiriping about this "correlation" are canes fans...since they can't actually win on the football field of late.

I'm looking at the recruiting rankings from the last few years and I think Meyer & Co. are doing just fine....your double wide is safe.

Matt Patchan? Flimpsy cheap shot by a flimpsy Gator apologist!

I smoked weee, A LOT of weed and I became a cop (on T.V.).

...dude, I smoked so much weed I can't even spell it.

LOL -- shouldn't the Hurricanes be more focused on what to do with the talent while it's at UM, VS. following up with the players when they are gone????

Wasn't the knock on Marino in '83 that he was a weed-head?

Jeff Feagles our bridge to the past finally retired.

Hey jo, Can we ask Addazio how Miami recruited Kevin Nelson away from florida this year?

No need to ask Addazio this question.

Florida doesn't recruit 2 & 3 star players. Thats what Nelson is.

Next question cane clowns.....

LOL -- shouldn't the Hurricanes be more focused on what to do with the talent while it's at UM, VS. following up with the players when they are gone????

Canes had all those pro-bowlers, yet only 1 championship in the last decade? Seems like they should be kicking themselves in the pants rather than talking smack on this blog!!!

Posted by: Donna Shalala | April 28, 2010 at 05:34 PM

florida did recruit him turd tard and he told urban to F off. Not that it matters but ESPN has him ranked as the #3 ILB and A 4 star recruit but you already know that. Congrats on patchan though he fits right in up there the train wreck that he is. Who knew how lucky Miami was to NOT get that doooooshbag.

Funny, Rivals.com has all but three players on your list as 4 star recruits.

Hey I know you are gasping for anything possible to make you feel better about your has been program. You can't land the big recruits anymore. See Seantral Henderson.Fact is the majority of Floridas classes are top recruits. Miami's classes are made up of "projects" or "good fits for our system" and it just turns out those "special" players are seen as mediocre by top programs.Meaning no one wants them.

Gators recruit nation wide. They get the cream of the crop. The top 1%. Thats why the are contenders every year.

So keep talking nonsense but you and I know once August comes, all 10,000 miami fans will witness another 4 loss season.

Jamarcus is lazy, plain and simple. Please direct me where to lay down my money on this Tebow-bust bet. I will be against that any day. Tebow is already a star and will lead the Broncos back to greatness.

-jo-

Ok then, if we sign projects, why don't you guys play us every year instead of FSU? Would fear have anything to do with that? I think so!!!!

The Gay-tors are, have been and always will be punks! Drop Charleston Southern, The Citadel, Troy, FIU, Hawaii and play us....PLEASE!!!! We are begging for a showdown, PLEASE!!!!!!

You Gay-tor fans have to stop all this talkin and put up or shut up. All this talkin does nothing but show how cowardly you guys are when it comes to THE U! Inferiority complexes are very difficult to overcome!!

The homophobe Cane nation whiners are the only ones going peepee in the wind on this! Waaaaahhhhhh, nobody wants to play us wwwwwaaaaaaaaaah. We suck and its everybody else's fault, wwwaaaaaaaaahhhhh.

I think this guy summed things up pretty well homey.

Hey PUNA, your Gator envy is blinding you. If you begged for a conference championship, you're begging skills would be put to better use.

LOL - another cane fan gets a face plant.

Rivals has you signing 5 three star recruits dooshbag. How can that be? florida doesen't recuit 3 star players according to you. Bye the way that #1 class you signed dropped A spot to USC. No wonder urbans not doing booster functions right now. urban must have had to triple his prozac dose after learning Kiffen beat him in recruiting this year.

Someone please tell me, what is "Da U"??? Is it a abbreviation for something? It sounds like something my 14 month old niece says.

Jo the only place he can direct you to is this blog, sun-sentinel.com, and the unemployment office.

And the beatings will continue delusional cane tards.

Is that a CANE FAN I see above calling out the Gators recruiting class? U redefine idiot man.

Lets review: Urban Meyer TROUNCED Randy Shannon in recruiting in 2010. It's not even debatable. So stay in your 4 loss mediocre conference and dream of the day when U actUally play in yoUr Unwatched conference title game......YAWWWWWWNNNNNNNNN

What will the idiots say this year when they get beatdown again in Randy's "results" year? U know its coming. UM simply is NOT a contender. Will canefan continue to run empty smack? Of course they will. At least they could use the shallow "we're still building" excuse last year and the year before. That chit won't fly this year. They'll still continue to embarrass themselves and expose their deep envy.

Good luck in 2010 UM. (has a funny ring to it doesn't it?)

Is that a CANE FAN I see above calling out the Gators recruiting class? U redefine idiot man.

No thats A cane fan calling you out for saying the gators dont recruit 3 star players dooshbag. What happend to your #1 recruiting class in the nation turd tard? Not that it matters what A kid does in high school but its funny that all everyone heard was about the gators #1 recruiting class. Not so much huh....

And by the way:

KEVIN NELSON PUNKED YOU!

They get the cream of the crop. The top 1%

LMFAO, How did that help against Alabama. You girls laid down like dogs. Texas without the winningest QB in college football history (by the way) gave them A run for their money. The great tebow and florida? Not so much....

Two words doooosbag....Jacory Harris

IT'S ALL ABOUT DA WAS! IT'S ALL ABOUT DA WAS! IT'S ALL ABOUT DA WAS! IT'S ALL ABOUT DA WAS! IT'S ALL ABOUT DA WAS! IT'S ALL ABOUT DA WAS!

- Momentum from winning the 2010 Sugar Bowl “surged” into recruiting, allowing the team to add to its already talent-filled class.
- Excited about redshirt freshman Jordan Reed’s athleticism and ability to play both tight end and Wildcat quarterback. Joked that people want the team to re-name it “Gator-cat or something.” Also thinks freshman Gerald Christian made great strides.
- Really excited for the emergence of redshirt junior wide receiver Deonte Thompson.
- Believes that redshirt freshman WR Andre Debose has a “real dynamic ability.”
- Said freshman WR Robert Clark is one of the most competitive players on the team.
- Freshman QB Trey Burton has “that competitive specialness to him.” Said Tim Tebow had “it,” Donovan McNabb had “it” at Syracuse and Burton has “a lot of that going on.”
- Believes new defensive coordinator Teryl Austin has done “a phenomenal job in the spring.” He said head coach Urban Meyer got a glowing recommendation from his “best friend,” Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Billy Davis.
- Mentioned redshirt sophomore Jeremy Brown specifically as the second cornerback across from Janoris Jenkins. Said freshman Josh Shaw impressed but did not mention senior Moses Jenkins at all.
- Plans are for freshman safety Matt Elam to see the field plenty. “Matt [Elam] is something. You will see him game one,” he said.
- Called the linebackers “dynamic” and is really excited to them during games. Singled out sophomore Jon Bostic for his hard-hitting and redshirt freshman Jelani Jenkins as “one of the fastest backers I’ve ever seen. He really goes.”
- Redshirt junior WR Chris Rainey is the man when it comes to returning the ball, junior running back Jeff Demps may get a shot as well.
- Team captains: seniors center Mike Pouncey and defensive end Justin Trattou have already been named. Also mentioned senior safety Ahmad Black, Thompson, redshirt senior defensive tackle Lawrence Marsh and, of course, redshirt freshman QB John Brantley as team leaders who could be elevated.

U see cane tards, we gots talent all over the field. I'll take this PARTIAL list over your light in the pants soft roster ANY DAY. Simply put, we are better than U. Now U go Underachieve yet again as U KNOW U will.

What's the over/under on J17's intercetion count for 2010? I"m gonna set it at 10? Gimme the action on the over.

And your point?

Harris as A sophmore:

24 TDs and 17 INTs

Colt Mccoy as A sophmore:

23 TDs and 18 INTs

Your out of gas turd tard. True sophmore first year starter under A new OC that was being mentioned for the heisman (prematurely by the way) before he hurt his hand. This year INTs will go down and TDs and yards will go up. He threw for over 3,000 by the way but you allready knew that diden't you hater.

Hilarious...never gets old. You should go on a comedy tour - don't know what sell out more your stand up or a cane home game...

Thank you I will be here all week. TRY THE MEATLOAF!

But oh man that 162lb. Jeremy Davis is going to be a shUt down corner for U cane tards.

Posted by: Dont let facts get in the way | April 29, 2010 at 11:34 AM

Colt McCoy won ten games including his bowl game.

U see cane tards, we gots talent all over the field

BAWHAHAHA because they were good in high school? Most of your players havent done squat in college. It's called rebuilding dooshbag and thats where the gators are at this year. The only unit on the whole gator squad I would give the edge to is O line. Other than that you have "promising" players that havent done jack.

Posted by: Dont let facts get in the way | April 29, 2010 at 11:34 AM

FACT:

Colt won ten games including his bowl game.

So he won one more game, threw one more pick and one less TD. Your point?

Posted by: you have none | April 29, 2010 at 11:58 AM

Not in the same league as Colt McCoy - he wins.

Shouldn't you be taking orders at window 2?

Thank you drive through.

You SEC chest thumpers are funny, Soon Miami and FSU start meeting in the ACC title game and the ol rigged SEC (two undefeated) will take a back seat to 2 real teams that arent afraid to play anyone.

That's odd "chest-thumping" (as you call it) on our own blog?! Spare yourself the humiliation and troll on your own blog.

There is no doubt in my mind that UM and FSU will be on the up and up soon. However, hasn't (almost) 20 years in a conference taught you guys anything??? Winning your conference is compulsory. OOC is nice, but winning all those (OOC) games and dropping 3 or 4 in conference doesn't do much for ya'.

Seems like Noles and Canes have been the ones re-building. Do yourselves a favor and focus on winning your conference -- all good things happen from there. In the words of my buddies Waters and Gilmore: If you don't eat your meat you can't have any pudding, how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?
