GAINESVILLE -- Florida picked up its 14th commitment of the 2011 recruiting cycle on Wednesday when cornerback Nick Waisome of Groveland South Lake orally committed to the Gators and UF coach Urban Meyer said.
Around the time Waisome [PICTURED] pledged his allegiance to Florida, receiver James Wilder Jr. of Tampa Plant orally committed to Florida State. I've never seen either one of these players in action, so someone is going to have to tell me which school received the better commitment on Wednesday. I'm assuming these two players will be lining up against each other in a few years. Then again, you know how recruiting goes. Come February, Waisome could be signing with FSU and Wilder Jr. could be switching to Florida.
Waisome committed to Florida on ESPNU on Wednesday. He attends the same high school as current Gators Jeff Demps and Jonotthan Harrison.
For those keeping score: Florida currently has 14 commitments for the class of 2011, FSU has 15 commitments and Miami has six. Tough to call a winner but I'd say Miami is losing.

Receiver?

RB, sorry. Changed it. Must have been thinking: "This guy should be a receiver in college. No wonder he's going to FSU."

Jo, Miami also only has 15 Scholarships left for this season. So they will obviously get less recruits.

Thanks for pointing that out, K-Man. Was not aware. Guess Canes have to be wise with their schollies.

Wilder is one if not the best player in the state. Problem is he may need to go prep if he doesn't get his grades up.

Hi Joe -- there doesn't seem to be many injuries in camp this year. Either Mickey M. did a great job with these guys in the off-season or the coaching staff is keeping them under wraps. What's your take???
Keep the updates comin'!!!

Appreciate it Jo, keep it up.

I guess sometimes you get lucky. Over the past three years, it seems like they've had at least four or five guys tear ACLs or get knocked out for one reason or another during fall camp: Dorian Munroe, CI, Debose, Patchan, that receiver from Lakeland who I can't think of his name oh yeah Paul Wilson, etc. Keep your fingers crossed. Camp isn't over.

...it's a blog dude, not a fully produced, edited piece. For that reason these guys can bang out an unlimited amount of these in a day. Makes for more availability of info, quicker.
Back in "the day" you only got news once a day at 6 PM, on a black and white T.V. set, with no remote.

Hey Jo...you H*E...don't worry about our Canes "losing". We have a very deep team this year and next. Were deep at many posistions...so...stop sweatin us. Waisome is from Orlando...it's only natural he is a Gator fan. Wilder...it's been written many times he projects as a linebacker...but...insists on being a running back. He obviously is not interested in listening to anyone...hence...his low GPA and possible academic issues...Randy and Co. probably told him straight up what the deal was and he was not buying it...so...why listen to guys who have been responsible for placing MANY premier players in the NFL...looks like the Noles and Gators have been losing THAT ONE...

It is not a big deal, blogs are just more opinion. Plus Jo acknowledged it. If he wrote it in a column then it would be a problem.

Angry cane guy misses the point about the Top 10 list. Though I can't speak for USC and WVU, I know with virtual certainty that the rest of those teams would still sell-out their home stadiums even if they went 2-10. They have FANS that give a crap. Cane fans only show up if and when their team is winning.
Too bad. No surprise they have no stadium, no endowment, no independent athletic association and no future.

Hey stupid, 2/3 of the people that go to UF's games are from outside of Gainesville. They especially come in droves from the 3rd world Banana Republic where you live that supposedly has so much to do. This way they can be surrounded by people that actually speak English and not appear as a victim on “The First 48”.
