What's the difference between Tim Tebow and John Brantley? Not much, says Gators coach

GAINESVILLE -- So, John Brantley's mustache didn't last long. For that, I am truly disappointed.

Quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler said he was going to make sure Brantley shaved his mustache. Brantley said not a chance. The coach won the battle of wills, apparently. Or maybe Brantley was just sick of being jeered by his friends. Whatever the reason, it's gone.

Why am I writing about a man's mustache? I don't know. To more important matters...

Florida coach Urban Meyer said on Monday that Brantley is showing the same type of leadership skills that helped make former All-American Tim Tebow successful. At one point, Meyer said he was worried about Brantley's ability to lead. But not anymore. Over the past few months -- and especially in the last two weeks -- Brantley has taken ownership of Florida's offense.

On Monday, I asked Meyer why he wasn't worried about Brantley. Here's what he said ...

"Someone asked me today, 'What's the difference between John Brantley and Tim Tebow?' Believe it or not there's not that much different. The outward appearance there's a big difference. Inward, the competitiveness and his leadership is fantastic right now. Much better than I thought. I was really worried about that but when you have a guy like [Tebow] in front of you -- he didn't [need to] show much of that.

"Like today, we had a two-minute drill and he did fantastic. He ran the whole show and acted like the veteran quarterback he is. So, I'm really encouraged by John. Everyone knows he can throw the ball, but his other part is fantastic, as far as management of the team and leadership."

You wouldn't really know how to deal with that. Headlines from last night and you start rallying 2008. U ARE GETTING CRUSHED fool. Nicky stuffed Urbie's nutsack down his throat.

Southern California's football team won't play in a bowl game this season and the program had to shed a Heisman Trophy award last month because of NCAA violations. But there's one area where the school is still No. 1 in college football: hoarding top-level recruits.

Heading into the 2010 season, which begins next week, USC's projected starters average 4.27 stars on the recruiting system at Rivals.com, a website that ranks high-school athletes in terms of talent by awarding them stars, ranging between two and five. That 4.27 mark is tied with the University of Florida atop major college-football in terms of the teams' projected starters in Phil Steele's annual College Football Preview.

Notre Dame is ranked third in the country at 4.09 and Texas, Alabama and LSU are tied for fourth at 3.91. The service academies, Navy, Army and Air Force, are not surprisingly at the bottom of this list. Western Kentucky, which officially joined college football's top ranks last year, was the next-worst at 1.14 stars per projected starter. The lowest-ranked team from a BCS conference was Washington State, which averaged 2.1 stars, good for 86th in the country (no wonder they were picked dead last in the Pac-10 preseason poll).

To almost nobody's surprise, the SEC walloped its competitors with an average of 3.43 stars, 11% higher than anyone else. The results among the non-BCS conferences were more surprising—the Mountain West, which boasts two teams in the preseason top-25 poll, is behind Conference USA, which doesn't have anyone in the rankings.

Heres somthing for you to gaze at star boy:

Fact remains that as of today, Miami SUCKS. Period. No question about it. You are a has been team. Its like when you go to your high school reunion and the hottest girl you remember has pushed out 4 kids and has gained 50 pounds and looks like crap. She will never regain her looks. Just like Miami will never be better than a mediocre ACC team. Your best days are behind you. Its been 9 years since you have done anything. 9 years moron. How many more years need to go by before you realize you SUCK?

Butch Davis called and asked randy to please wash his balls because he is going to mount them in his office.

Urban Meyer: 57-9 since 2005.
SI Coach of the Decade.

9-3 in his 1st season
13-1 in his 2nd season; Nat'l Champs...NCAA's hardest rated schedule.
9-3 in his 3rd season; Tebow, Heisman Trophy
13-1 in his 4th season; Nat'l Champs...NCAA's 2nd hardest rated schedule
13-1 in his 5th season; 2010 Sugar Bowl Champs (Yes, U fans, an actual BCS Bowl Game!)

UF Gators, the only team in NCAA history to win 13 games back to back in a season.
UF Gators, the only team in NCAA history to win 2 Nat'l Championships with the hardest rated schedule and another with the 2nd hardest rated schedule.
We actually play in the hardest conference in football and we actually have to play a conference championship! UM has never done either!
Not to mention those wonderfully planned Nat'l Championship games @ the Orange Bowl...if only UF was blessed with that.

What has Randy Shannon done for you today? 21-17? Meinke Auto Car Parts Bowl? Emerald Bowl?

Your right, the numbers dont lie. How does it feel to be in 2nd place?

urban meyer is actually 58 - 10 as head coach of the gators numb nut. But hey, don't let the FACTS get in the way.

Check that 57 - 10. I was being generous.

I want to take the time to apologize to gator fans. It seems I have not been completely truthful. When I said the gators have never had a perfect season I was wrong. It seems the gators have had 4 perfect seasons.......

1916. 0-5

1918. 0-1

1946. 0-9

1979. 0-10

The only problem is I forgot to add the UN in front of perfect. Forgive me for the error. The changes will reflect below.

It's hard to keep a straight face while accepting the honor as "master turd slayer" but here it goes.

I would like to start by thanking Bernie, Jeremy, and Urban for the unscrupulous way you run the gator program. I would also like to thank percy for puffing, Dunlap for his bouts with narcolepsy ( It aint easy to fall asleep at the wheel ) and Ronnie Wilson for his outstanding markmanship. Without all of you this would not be possible.......

Everyone makes omissions in acceptance speeches(cough, Emmit, cough, Smith) The fact of the matter is I did not feel like writing a novel. I do apologize to Jamar "sticky with blood on his fingers" Hornsby and Frankie"two bottles of crown and i'm down" Hammond but theres only so much love to go around.

HILARIOUS!!

We gotta a spammer on the UF blog!
Same loser, same comment every time...
Same guy with his right hand down his pants and his left hand on the mouse! What a douche......

We got a Spammer on the UF Blog...
Obviously, a UM fan sucking our government dry of welfare money because he's too busy depleting forum space for his pleasure; instead of looking for a job.
Do us the favor, take your right hand out of your pants, take your left hand off the mouse, get out a little more...stop trashing a team that you envy. You are a little turd.
Gators, today, in time, are better then UM. You know that, stop posting the same garbage over and over again...you guys may have been relevant when my grandfather was alive, but, at this point, you guys are nobodies in Florida. Get over it!

This is our blog...we took it over after all your Turds got arrested. Prepare to get slayed by the FACT.

Hey comma guy, Jo is a Cane fan too...just like Emmitt.
