The 2011 All-Southeastern Conference Coaches' Team was announced Thursday, and as you may have guessed, Florida did not have a player selected to the first-team.
The Gators had a sole second-team member, running back Jeff Demps, and six total selections. Alabama led all conference schools with seven first-team selections. Arkansas had a league-high 14 selections, but just one on the first-team.
Linebackers Jon Bostic and Jelani Jenkins were both selected to the third-team defense. Kicker Caleb Sturgis made the second-team for specialists, while Andre Debose and Trey Burton were third-team selections.
While some may wonder why the first-team isn't littered with Gators like usual, understand that this isn't a big deal. It is pre-season after all. Much of it can be attributed to a down year in 2010 and the unknowns that accompany a new coaching staff.
Florida has plenty of talent, but the majority of it is largely unproven. The good news is we are a little more than a month away from the start of the season and some clarity.

Check back soon as I'll be previewing SEC Media Days and Friday Night Lights.

I am starting to feel bad for Matt.
Dead blog means he lost his fans, all that is left are guys from other teams (including me admittedly) for the giggles.
Non-troll Gator fans, come on back.
Rico Nice, gatorsam, and others, let's politely discuss football and if the Canes might get to face the Gators in a bowl this year!
Gator trolls, you know where you can go. You started this mess, destroyed this blog in the process, and your job is done.

Whassup Five Titles. I got misty eyed that you actually called me out by name. Wow. I matter.
This will be an interesting season for both the Gators and the Canes. So many questions surrounding both teams. We Gators definitely had our fill of "humble pie" last year. I think it'll be a struggle for both teams, having so many new coaches, BUT I also think both teams will be better.

Matt, great to have you. Look forward to your coverage this year. Goodman and McCall were both very good writers and it will be great to see more of that from you.
This five titles guy is a lurking wierdo. Do us all a favor and actively delete the nonsense that will be surely forthcoming from this troll and others just like him.
Your only chance is to nip these troll in the bud right out of the gate. Otherwise this place will resemble a bathroom wall. Eye on the U is a toxic dumping ground. Hopefully you go that extra mile and don't let the same thing transpire here.
You definitely have your work cut out for you in dealing with trash that will be passing through. Good luck. Make it happen.

How does it feel to have the 79th and 80th best linebackers in the SEC? lol...

Listen guys. If your comment is off-topic, a rant with no point or a personal attack, it will be removed.
There are plenty of places to be childish on the Internet — this will not be one of them.
Much of your criticisms of the Gators are on point, but when you deliver them with curse words and personal attacks they lose all merit. Everyone is welcome to continue to contribute commentary, but please try to be civil.

Even Vandy had more first and second teamers than ufelons.

Thanks so much for the commitment to having a troll free blog Matt. You will be very busy but it will be worth it when pigskin kicks off and we can banter about your posts.

Matt, thank you for being up front and monitoring the blog, howeve you will never have many comments posted because alot of the gator fans do nothing but perform personal attacks on here. Good luck to you in your new position.

BREAKING NEWS, BREAKING NEWS, BREAKING NEWS
A pair of prospects the Gators had in their sights decided to commit on Dawg Night in Athens, Ga. As if the sting of 2012 OT John Theus (Jacksonville Bolles) committing to UGA wasn’t enough to irk Gator fans, then the later news did when the state¿s top player for 2013 RB Derrick Henry (6-4, 222) of Yulee High also committed to Georgia.
Very Disturbing Gator fans

Congratulations to the amazing run by the USWNT. You made us all, especially Gator Nation, very proud
Wambach and Solo will be playing for MagicJack very soon in Boca. Can't wait.

Matt, check with Manny and Susan on the Canes side, they will let you know how busy policing these blogs will make you.
Perhaps you can get an intern to help out.
Rico, don't get TOO misty eyed, I will still be disagreeing with you a bunch. I just find that you are more ready to discuss the actual game than to waste time in personal attacks.
Some blogs make you register to post, but here they leave it wide open, so sometimes the IQ of the posters is obviously in the sub 80s. You are in the 100s, and are possibly the highest of the Gator posters I have seen on here.
That's enough praise of a Gator. Go Canes!

Wow, just clicked on and we got a blog back. Great. Good to have Matt in the fold. Hey Matt Friday Night Lights this weekend, will you be there? Going to be a big weekend for us. I have a feeling Mr. Henry is still in play, he will be in Gainesville on Friday. Probably told Georgia what they wanted to hear just to get out of Athens. Matt what about Marcus Maye, great get, excellent size for a DB, hearing he could grow to LB size.

Golden did it the right way, having multiple camps and not putting all his eggs in one basket with a lame name for the event.
