Donezo: Debose out for season with knee injury

GAINESVILLE -- Florida’s enigmatic receiver/kick returner Andre Debose (Seminole High) suffered a season-ending knee injury during Tuesday’s practice, the team announced Wednesday.

Debose tore his left anterior cruciate ligament planting his foot wrong in a non-contact drill, according to head coach Will Muschamp.

“I know Andre is disappointed,” Muschamp said. “He had been doing very well in camp, and we were more than pleased with his effort and attitude. … It is unfortunate and you feel bad anytime that someone is injured.”

According to teammates, the much-maligned redshirt senior was finally making positive strides and appeared poised for a breakout season.

“You can feel him at practice,” cornerback Louchiez Purifoy said. “I wouldn’t have said that last year.”

More to come.
