Week 1: Depth Chart vs. Toledo

* Austin Hardin (RFR) won the placekicking job over senior walk-on Brad Phillips, but technically it remains an open competition. Muschamp said, “Brad was slowed by a groin. Again, Brad kicked well when he kicked, he just didn’t have as many attempts or at-bats as Austin did. But Austin sort of distanced himself as a kickoff guy and the placekicking duties. But Brad is a guy who has been in the game before and done it when the lights were on, so that’s something we’re going to work through during the season.”

* Brian Poole is the listed starter at nickel over Vernon Hargreaves III, but since Muschamp didn’t update VG3’s injury status (sprained shoulder) here’s guessing this gets flip-flopped once the freshman is cleared for contact.

* Clay Burton is the No. 1 tight end, with Muschamp saying, “I think Clay is just a very dependable guy who can play multiple spots as far as playing on the line and also playing what we call the “move” position. He's able to do some different things.” Sophomore TE Kent Taylor is nowhere to be found.

* The tailback situation remains in flux. Mack Brown, Mark Herndon and Valdez Showers are all listed, while Muschamp refused to name/compliment freshmen running backs Adam Lane or Kelvin Taylor.

* Solomon Patton (WR) and Valdez Showers (RB) are the main two kick returners, but Louicheiz Purifoy (CB/WR) will return kicks too.

I saw that Chaz Green is out for the season. I'm assuming that is why Trenton Brown is in the 2-deep. Hope we don't have to insert the big guy into a game situation yet as I don't think he is ready for the speed of the game at this level.

Ur next Johnson n Morris.

Is Watkins starting ahead of Purifoy? And Poole or VHIII listed in the nickel, does that mean Purifoy, Roberson and Watkins won't be all playing at the same time?

Am I next also? @M.L.B. #3 Antonio "BOOM" Morrison

Thanks for the updates Jesse - any new updates on Matt Jones?

Swiss cheese O Line, Miami D will be running through your offense and introducing them self to driskel multiple times, may not make it to half time. Oh well you have super back ups at every position, rigghhttt

Couple answers here:

1. Watkins is not starting ahead of Purifoy, rather the two are listed as "Co-Starters." Both will play tons, obviously. I am interested in seeing if Boom plays all three (Wat, Purifoy and Marcus Roberson) at the same time this season. Something he didnt do much at all in 2012.

2. Matt Jones' condition is improving. He remains questionable but stands a decent chance of playing vs. Miami. I'll have a complete update on the tailback tomorrow.

Burning the midnight oil, Jesse! Thanks for the updates!

Thanks for the answers Jesse. And good job ignoring all the idiotic cane trolls.
As always, Go Gators!
