Poll Position: A terrible tumble

GAINESVILLE -- For the first time all season, Florida is no longer considered one of the 20 best teams in the country.

The Gators (4-2, 3-1 SEC) slid five spots in both the Associated Press top 25 and USA Today coaches poll, falling to No. 22 nationally after their 17-6 loss to LSU on Saturday in Tiger Stadium.

The road doesn't get any easier this weekend, as Florida travels to Columbia for a pivotal SEC Eastern Division showdown with No. 14 (and undefeated) Missouri (12:00 p.m. ET, ESPN). The Gators finish the season with four of their final six games against teams currently ranked inside the top 15.

You seem like a nice guy,Jesse, but your reporting is a little lazy. Check the SEC East standings http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/college-football/standings.
Gators have lots of problems on offense, but where they rank nationally isn't one. If they manage to beat Mizzou this week, it's still a wide open race for the SEC East. Mizzou did soundly beat an injury-riddled Georgia team this week, but their other victories came against mostly cream-puff teams: Murray St. Toledo, Indiana, Ark St.,and Vandy. If in any of your spare time you had actually asked Gator coaches what they're focusing the team on from here on out it would be better execution on offense, better pass protection, quicker reads by the QB, and still winning the SEC East. You should change your article title to "Gators Down But Not Out"(SMH and pointing to the corner).

BTW, Jesse, the Gators always face a bunch of top ranked teams on their schedule. They play in the SEC and against FSU every year. That's nothing new.

Hey Jesse, I don't mean to pile on, but "terrible tumble"? Come on man, from 17 to 22 after a loss is about right, not so "terrible". And of course we have a bunch of ranked teams on our schedule, we are not Miami, we play several top teams every year, not just two. That is a good thing that can allow us to climb back up the polls if we start winning again. There is always hope for the Gators with their tough schedule.
We do need to protect the QB a lot better though.
Go Gators!!

Sure you do, jlo. Why, this season alone you have played Arky, UK and Tennessee, with a combined record of 7 - 12 and in the case of UK and UT, the worst teams they have fielded in decades. Throw in a 3 - 3 Toledo team, a depleted Georgia and even Georgia Southern and yep, you play some pretty stiff competition.

Notice Missy St. was life and death to beat Bowling Green at home? Didn't hear too much SEC! SEC! SEC! chants. YOu know that one, right? It's what mindless 'necks do when they lose.

Miami has played Kansas State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USF, Ohio State, as non-conference foes in the past 4 years. Tell me "1" worthy non-conference foe Florida has faced in the past 5 years. Non-bowl game.

Reid: "Reporting is a little lazy" -- Thanks!

Perhaps you have a bit of a reading comprehension problem or you haven't been around the blog that much. I never said Florida wasnt in or out of the SEC Eastern Division race. That info simply wasn't included, as the short blog was just about the two national polls. As for the number of ranked teams remaining on UF's schedule: I know Florida plays a bunch of ranked teams every season. I was laying out the Gators' remaining schedule.

As for Jlo: You're right. Headline was a tad harsh. Just liked the alliteration.

That is a good thing that can allow us to climb back up the polls if we start winning again

Al, you forgot to add "and not legislated by the FL legislature," to pre-empt the fem jlo from saying FSU. You know the UFraud would have traded FSU for SW Missouri State a long time ago to play a more "national" schedule.

BWWWAAHAAHA.

The MIZZOU beatdown looms, gatr maggots.

Reports out of Athens, GA that the team is saying they gifted Mizzou the victory by the interceptions and the multiple injuries.

Kentucky also gifted BAma their game. I believe Ole Miss gifted the game to ATM as well. No losses in the sEC, only gift-giving. Or is that the loser-talk of the most disgusting fan base in the country?

We're looking at you, UFirstdegreemurder.

I've been a Gator fan a long time. The way I see it is this team is not bulit to come from behind. The route tree the receivers run is not working. It can't be every week that they are not open. More passes down field and when your D gives you the ball deep down feild try taking a shot at the end zone. Everyone knows you gonna run and not pass. This coach and oc needs to take a long look at this. If not the season could get very ugly and soon.

Miami has played Kansas State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USF, Ohio State, as non-conference foes in the past 4 years. Tell me "1" worthy non-conference foe Florida has faced in the past 5 years. Non-bowl game.

"Miami has played Kansas State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USF, Ohio State, as non-conference foes in the past 4 years. Tell me "1" worthy non-conference foe Florida has faced in the past 5 years. Non-bowl game."

This question is moot. Why qualify a schedule by conference vs non conference foes?
UF has played Alabama, LSU, TAM, Auburn, SoCarolina, UGA, Mizzou in the last 4 years. All ranked teams in the last 4 years. The national champ undefeated team every year for the past 4 years, we have played them all. Much more impressive than your silly list of 2 good teams per year.

In your stupid comparison, we have played more good teams every year, we have played and beat better teams than you in the past 4 years and we have done much better than you.
The OOC bit is for you. It is you who need to play the best possible OOC teams. Just like we play the best conference teams.
You should play great OOC teams yet you don't, you play one or two good ones only.
We play at least 4 very good conference teams every year, you don't.
Again a Miami Moron talking up schedules is very stupid.
How ignorant can you be?

SEC LEast. Where the losers play but still chant SEC! because they want to "hang" with their big brothers in the West.

Watch out. That Vandy game is going to be a tough one, you know, because it is SEC. SEC LEast. Where the league dregs play.

"GAINESVILLE, Fla. -
No. 22 Florida will be without running back Matt Jones for the remainder of the season.

Coach Will Muschamp says Jones had surgery Monday morning to repair torn meniscus in his left knee."

Never want an injury to any player (well, except you, j-lo, cheering Driskel's injury you low-life). However, on the bright side for you Gatr maggots, now you have a built-in excuse. Pressure's off.

You will, from here on out, have GIFTED every game because of the injuries. A classless act for a classless fan base.

Same Miami Moron with the same injury angle, why bother changing your name if you are going to post the same crap.
The only game we gifted was the one you won, thanks to Driskel. Injuries are part of the game and we deal with them. It is you who are making excuses.
Some big time projecting you have talking about trash, low life classless maggot. You looking in the mirror again while typing?
