The Miami Gay Men's Chorus played The Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road. The June 17 performance -- Miami: A Musical Mosaic -- included a Gloria Estefan tribute. In the audience: Gloria and hubby Emilio.
The 62-member ensemble performed an Estefan medley, including Conga and Turn the Beat Around, arranged by Larry Lapin, director of the jazz vocal program at University of Miami's Frost School of Music. Grand finale? A booming gospel rendition of Coming Out of the Dark.
Afterwards, the Estefans stuck around and greeted fans, says chorus artistic director Gary Keating. Baritone César Taboada, 45, a Warner Music Latina accountant, already framed a photo he had taken with the couple. Gloria, he says, ``grabbed me by the neck and gave me a kiss.''
