In a dark basement room, Carl Glorioso lays out the tools of his trade.
Tubes of makeup. Lipstick. False eyelashes. Glue-on nails. Several elaborate wigs. Custom-made jewelry.
And a roll of silver duct tape.
Right now he’s just a 27-year-old man (5-feet-8, 165 pounds) with a shaved head and clad in Nike basketball shirt and Old Navy shorts.
In 90 minutes he’ll emerge as Victoria DePaula, a lip-syncing, dancing, wise-cracking simulacrum of glamorous femininity who will strut her stuff for a hometown crowd of stomping, roaring fans.
