Artist Keith Clark at Atlantic Resort & Spa Gallery

News release:

ArtServe and the Atlantic Resort & Spa will host a reception Tuesday, August 5, with artist Keith Clark, in conjunction with an exhibit of his new work entitled “Portals”. The exhibit of abstract oil paintings is now on display through September 30, 2008 in the gallery of the Atlantic Resort & Spa located at 601 N Fort Lauderdale Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. The reception at the gallery and around the rooftop pool, is free to the public, from 6-8 pm, and will feature additional new paintings in the lobby for that night only. The exhibit and reception are part of ArtServe’s Exploring World Experiences, A Cultural Arts Series program with the Atlantic Resort & Spa.

Keith Clark studied Architecture at the University of Cincinnati, where he received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1985. He practiced architecture and design in Washington, DC for many years, specializing in architectural renderings. Clark moved to Fort Lauderdale and started painting in 2004, and calls his abstract paintings “post-expressionist”. On first glance Clark’s painting appear to be simple geometric compositions, but closer inspection reveals levels of detail. Say Clark, “I like to pull the viewer into my paintings, to discover emotional elements in the voids, not through the forms themselves but through the texture of the paint, the voracity of the application, the layers of color, and the contrast of light to dark.” He has participated in over 20 exhibits and galleries in South Florida including the Hortt, The Red Eye, and ArtExplosion.
