LGBT town hall forum at University of Mississippi to precede first presidential debate

Oxford, MS, September 15, 2008 - In advance of the first 2008 Presidential Debates taking place at the University of Mississippi, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocates will be participating in a Town Hall Forum organized by the Gay Straight Alliance at the University of Mississippi.

Participants of the town hall event include leaders from national LGBT advocacy organizations: Jasper Hendricks, Director of Policy, National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC); Brian Moulton, Associate Counsel, Human Rights Campaign (HRC); Steve Ralls, Communications Director, Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG); Anthony Ramos, Communications Director, Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN); Rashad Robinson, Senior Director of Media Programs, Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD); Aubrey Sarvis, Executive Director, Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN); and Christine Sun, LGBT Attorney for the Southeast, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

The Town Hall Forum is an opportunity to draw attention to the state of LGBT equality in the context of the 2008 Presidential elections. Panelists will also present their organization's role in advocating LGBT issues during this year's Presidential campaign.

Event: The University of Mississippi Gay Straight Alliance presents "Our Rights as Citizens and Humans," a Town Hall Forum on LGBT Issues.
