This is the problem, Amendment 2 rules out any compromises. I don't care if it's not called "marriage" by the government, I just want the benefits and rights that it comes with. My partner is severely disabled from abuse at the hands of his family as a child and hard work as an adult. He lives on SSD, has been crushed twice doing construction and may live to 45 if he is lucky. I want to be able to extend my health care and benefits to him, and I will be working in the public sector in a few months(hopefully). I want to be able to be with him when he dies. This amendment would be devastating to us and I am determined to do anything I can to defeat it. But I'm afraid the No campaign isn't enough. I can't afford to wait another 10 years to get these rights. My partner deserves better. We are not stereotypical gays, nor do we want to force our beliefs on people, but that is exactly what Amendment 2 is doing to US!
