From Tsunami Recordings:
Singer-songwriter-comic Jamie Anderson will appear in Ft. Lauderdale on January 17 at 8 pm, with In Harmony at the MCC Sunshine Cathedral, 1480 SW 9th Ave, www.inharmonyproductions.org, 954-717-9494.
Jamie has appeared numerous times in the area, most recently as a finalist in the singer-songwriter competition at the South Florida Folk Festival. Touring nationally since the 80’s, she’s played her warm and witty songs in hundreds of venues, from folk coffeehouses to colleges to women’s music festivals. She has eight albums, including the newest one, Three Bridges. When she’s not touring she teaches guitar and more at Duke University, arts centers and music camps. She doesn’t really park cars but her mama said she should have something to fall back on.
Jamie’s a confused folk singer who dabbles in several genres – witness the country ballad “My Dad Loves to Sing,” about the guy who is her greatest musical inspiration, and the comedy of “Your Mama Scares Me.” The acoustic ballad “Beautiful” is about a friend who had stomach surgery, and the bluegrass romp, “Felon,” is a less-than-kind look at North Carolina laws, a story that all starts with a speeding ticket and Barney Fife.
Her expressive voice and personable stage manner are an asset to any stage. She loves to perform but you really don’t want to hand over the keys to your Volvo unless chocolate is involved.
