Hi Everyone and Happy New Year!!

Now that the holidays are over, we know that you will soon start to think about Valentines Day, may we at Broward House suggest comedy?

For Valentines Day, award winning actor and comedian Alec Mapa will be bringing his stand up routine to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Amaturo Theater in Fort Lauderdale on Friday night, February 13th at 8:30 pm, for a one night only and first time performance in Fort Lauderdale, as a benefit for Broward House, Broward Counties oldest and largest HIV/AIDS community service organization.

With hilarious live performances, ground breaking television roles, and thought provoking columns in The Advocate, Alec has entertained audiences around the world in every imaginable medium. This past year, Alec went from Desperate to Ugly and joined the cast of UGLY BETTY as star "Fashion Buzz" reporter SUZUKI ST. PIERRE. Alec was also seen this past summer in the hit film comedy YOU DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN starring Adam Sandler and in the current #1 movie MARLEY AND ME starring Jennifer Aniston.

Audiences first discovered Alec on Broadway in the Tony Award winning production of M.BUTTERFLY. Alec has guest starred on over 40 television series, including ALIAS, FRIENDS, DHARMA AND GREG, ROSEANNE, THE JAMIE FOXX SHOW, SEINFELD and NYPD Blue. In 2001 Alec made television history by playing network television’s very first Gay Asian series regular role on the short lived CBS sitcom SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS. He then starred in four seasons of the UPN sitcom HALF AND HALF. Currently he recurs as Gabriella Solis’ gay pal “Vern” on the ABC mega-hit DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES and as St. Pierre on UGLY BETTY. Film audiences howled at Alec’s shameless scenery stealing as “N’ Cream” in the wildly popular movie musical CONNIE AND CARLA and his other film credits include PLAYING BY HEART. He will also be seen in the upcoming DIRTY LAUNDRY and TRU LOVED.

Alec’s abundant skill as a stand up comic was showcased when his WISECRACK (you tube video) comedy special premiered on LOGO and then went to HBO. Alec is married and lives in Los Angeles with his husband Jamison Hebert and their dog Ozzy.

Reservations are now available to the general public for this one night only exclusive performance by clicking here. You won’t want to miss out on this hilarious benefit performance and we hope to see you all there.
