A news release today from Alibi Land Sharks team manager Adam Sanders:
The Alibi Land Sharks will travel to Tampa on February 13 to take the field for the first time since they swept three games to become the South Florida Amateur Athletic Association’s (SFAAA) playoff champs, and compiled a 9-3 record to finish in first place during the SFAAA Fall 2008 regular season.
The Gasparilla Classic tournament (www.suncoastsoftball.org/gsc) will also be the team’s first since finishing third place in the annual Hurricane Showdown tournament held over Thanksgiving weekend in Fort Lauderdale, which attracted teams from as far away as London, U.K.
“We’re anxious to get started again,” team manager Adam Sanders said. “If we win in Tampa, we enter the season as the division favorites to go to the Series. I think that’s what the guys are focused on.”
The spring 2009 season of the SFAAA will begin March 1 at Mills Pond Park in Fort Lauderdale. If the Land Sharks are successful then, its off to North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAA) gay softball World Series this summer.
Regular season games are played each Sunday at Mills Pond Park in Fort Lauderdale. Visit www.sfaaa.net for scheduling and other league information. If you are interested in joining the Alibi Land Sharks, contact team manager Adam Sanders at adamisanders@aol.com. All skill levels are welcome.
