As some readers of this blog know, I am a victim of violent crime (I was shot in the back a few years ago). About the only "hate" involved in that incident was probably the perpetrator's serious problem with getting caught for a seven-figure embezzlement. The incident has provided me with some insights and, perhaps, some prejudices with respect to violent crime. I am, by the way, an even stronger opponent to capital punishment than I was before the incident. The violence has caused me to recognize my own lust for vengeance and society should be better than that. But I digress.
