The audience at Tuesday's Miami Beach planning board meeting was better coiffed than usual.

Dressed to the nines, four drag queen performers -- backed by dozens of vocal gay Beach residents -- came to City Hall asking that they be allowed to continue entertaining at the Palace restaurant's weekly Sunday brunch.

The queens' brunch on Ocean Drive prompted a royal row recently when guests at the Palace's next-door-neighbor, The Tides South Beach hotel, complained about the noise.

The Tides, at 12th Street and Ocean Drive, wanted the Sunday shows stopped.

A few compromises were reached: The drag queens may entertain Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The shows will end at 10 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays.

Performances are indoors but crowds often spill onto the sidewalk. Palace management said it will keep crowds away from people dining outside the Tides.

The board told the Palace and Tides managements to work out their differences and return in two months.

"As always, our intent is to work together with The Palace Bar to find a mutually acceptable solution for the enjoyment of all of our guests," Tides general manager Shan Kanagasingham said in a statement.

"We have a lot of people who benefit from these shows," said Tiffany Fantasia (a k a Henry Williams). About two years ago, a customer told her: " `Oh my goodness, I had so much fun. My husband passed away four months ago and that was the first time I had fun since that happened.' That was day it dawned on me how much impact we have on people's lives."

I eat at the Tides a lot because I like their food. I won't go back after hearing that they tried to stop the Queens' brunch. I never knew they had an issue w/ the shows. That's not what they said when I ate there. Wow.

You go, girls! Get a life, Tides! I love watching Tiffany stomp out into the middle of Ocean Drive. It's what South Beach is supposed to be about.

The new owners of the Tides ruined it. Losers

This is a fair and reasonable compromise. The Palace has contributed to the fabric, flair and tax base of South Beach for many years. The Tides should examine their own business shortcomings to identify why their guests are unhappy. Perhaps it is the pricing, perhaps it is the attitude. No one likes a Debbie Downer.

Looks like Biggie Smalls came back in drag...and brought Michelle Obama with him.

our group be looking for new venues to patronized, we will check out the palace on a thursday.. hoping it have a restaurant too. and ladies you three look very nice..keep up the GOOD WORKS!!

I AM PERSONALLY SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT THE SHOW WILL & MUST GO ON AT THE SOBE PALACE ON MIAMI BEACH, FL.. I KNOW THERE IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE SOMEONE OUT THERE THAT IS NOT DIVERSE & TRY'S TO POSE A PROBLEM FOR THE DIVERSITY COMMUNITY OF GAY'S, LESBIANS, BI'S & TRANSGENDERS; BUT PERSONALLY I DO BELIEVE EVERYONE IS UNIQUE IN THERE OWN RIGHT & NO ONE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO JUDGE OR DISCRIMINATE BASED ON RACE, SEX, OR ANY OTHER PREFERENCES AT ALL. THE HOTEL NEXT DOOR "THE TIDES" NEEDS TO STOP ARGUEING & PREVENTING TROUBLE & MAYBE JUST COME TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY AND BE MORE OPEN MINDED & BE A DIVERSE HOTEL, AFTER ALL YOU JUST MIGHT & PROBABLY WILL GET MORE VISITORS & GUEST TO STAY AT YOUR HOTEL IF YOU ALL WEREN'T SO NOT DIVERSE TO EACH AND EVERYONE'S OPEN LIFE STYLES & JOB'S OF ENTERTAINMENT. THEY TOO HAVE A RIGHT TO PERFORM & DO BUSINESS JUST LIKE YOUR HOTEL DOES; SO I ASK YOU AS A MODEL CITIZEN & LESBIAN & A MEMBER OF THE GLBT COMMUNITY OF THE TREASURE COAST... PLEASE LEAVE THE SOBE PALACE FOLKS ALONE & THE COMMUNITY THAT SURROUNDS IT & LET THEM ENTERTAIN AS THEY SEE FIT TOO. THEY ARE NOT DOING YOU ALL WRONG AT ALL. GO TO ONE OF THERE SHOWS WITH AN OPEN MIND & I GUARENTEE YOU WILL DEFINITLY HAVE A GREAT TIME. UNTIL THEN, REMEMBER ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION, WE ALL HAVE RIGHTS TO BEAR & TO HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH TOO AS WELL. "THOU SHALT NOT JUDGE THY NEIGHBOR" EITHER.. HAVE A GOOD DAY, AND SOBE PALACE "U GIRLS ROCK".. WE LOVE YOU UP HERE IN PORT ST. LUCIE, FL.. OUR PRIDE FEST HERE IS APRIL 18TH., 2010; HOPE TO SEE SOME OF YOU THERE TO HELP OUT WITH OUR PRIDE FEST & HAVE FUN.. SINCERELY WITH LOTS OF LOVE TO YOU ALL..

We love the Palace shows along Ocean Drive. Every time we are in town we attend the shows. My Mom and Dad love them! All of my friends who have ever been with me love them! The Tide's just sounds like their being bullies! Glad the queens stood up to them!

We'd love to hear from you!!

Talking about beach resorts, why look any further than Miami Beach?

Originally established in 1915, the city, located in the Miami-Dade County of Florida, changed its name to Miami Beach in 1917.

I was googling myself, and this is what I found. Glad to know that there's an African-American drag queen who likes my name (Tiffany Fantasia) so much he wanted to use it. I laughed for a long time. Nice to meet you, Tiffany!
