A highlight Tuesday night at the Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival: The screening of Stonewall Uprising, a new documentary of the events that sparked the United States’ modern gay rights movement.
Several of the vintage scenes featured in the film was shot here in Miami-Dade County during the 1960s.
A few guests at the screening: David Carter, author of the book Stonewall: The Riots that Sparked the Gay Revolution, the basis for the movie; and Raymond Castro, who was inside Stonewall during the 1969 riot and is featured in the film.
Here are pictures from the screening, as well as a few from a party across Biscayne Bay at Vlada Lounge, in advance of Wednesday night’s screening of Bear Nation. The party, attended by Bear Nation director Malcolm Ingram, was hosted by Tony Lima and Freddy Rodriguez, formerly of UUFF!
After the Wednesday night screening, a party will be held 9:30 p.m. to midnight at Bar 721, 721 Lincoln Lane North.
