From Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival:
The 2011 Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival brings a new and special spotlight which features the best of Miami’s new, local talent. The screenings will be held from 7:00 to 11:00 pm at 1111 Lincoln Road where the 7th Floor of the parking garage will be transformed into an event space. Enjoy the films in a post-modern version of a drive-in movie theater from the 1950’s...complete with waiters on roller skates! Complimentary food and beverages from Shake Shack and Brown-Forman.
Dipspit - Directed by Max Emerson and Justin James
The Odd Couple on Ocean Drive. Sam and Joe, a pair of straight male-models, are kicked out of the 8th and Ocean model-dorms for ruining a fashion show. They move in with a gay UM student named Max. Disaster ensues.
Earwig - Directed by Max Emerson and Vince Cardinal
An adaptation of both “The Bacchae” and “Where the Wild Things Are”, Max is a closeted college student self medicating with recreational drugs in pursuit of an endless party. What he finds in the end... is himself.
Hearts and Hotel Rooms - Directed by Justin James
Jimmy returns to a charmingly convenient hotel room, he reminisces on a one-night stand that took place there. Flashbacks from a year earlier-- checking in, simple conversation, discovering love-- bring into question whether or not Brian will return as well. Winner of the HBO SHOUT Short Film Screenwriting Competition.
Tale of Two Balls - Directed by Justin James
Two beach balls do a somewhat-animated dance in a backyard swimming pool, symbolizing both beauty and equality in this visual poem about unrequited love.
