The steamy, sexy and sultry Two Boys in Bed on a Cold Winter's Night comes to Rising Action Theatre in an all new production. James Edwin Parker's play has been critically acclaimed in the US and on the International stage. Set in New York City in 1987, this play explores the sexual etiquette of one-night stands and is peppered with poignant, humorous and sly observations as it's two boys yearn for a carefree time of days gone by.
The audience is a veritable fly on the wall as the couple slowly expose secrets and yearnings during their one night fling.
The play has been critically hailed in New York City and London alike for it's inherent truth of one nights stand regardless of gender:
" Two Boys in Bed on a Cold Winter's Night, by James Edwin Parker, is a comic tale about how not to behave during a one night stand but is also an exploration of emotional intimacy." New Yorker
"James Edwin Parker's unsettling drama Two Boys in Bed on a Cold Winter's Night is one of the first plays to analyze the dynamics of the hunt in sexually explicit terms. In doing so, it displays a nasty critical acuity." Stephen Holden New York Times.
"Two Boys in Bed on a Cold Winter's Night has the ring of honesty, some explosively funny incidents, and a lot of naked scrimmaging under the duvet." The Times of London
" An emotional roller coaster of a play that is guaranteed to resonate with everyone gay or straight, male or female who has sought to connect." Fire Island Sun
The production is directed by Jerry Jensen, who has recently helmed The Lion in Winter, A Thousand Clowns, and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
Nigel Revenge appears as Darryl, a thirty-something graphic designer, who brings home the hot blue collar stud, Peter, played by Angel Perez. Both recently appeared in Rising Action's acclaimed production of The Boys in the Band this past season and have a long list of acting credits throughout South Florida.
Dr. Howard Cunningham of Oakland Park Dental is sponsoring Angel Perez's performance.

As a gay man, I find the title of this show troubling. These two are anything but "boys" and referring to them as such speaks volumes of how society sees us, and worse yet, our warped self-image. Maybe when we grow up some, and start calling ourselves men, we will get the respect we want.

I appreciate CR's comment. As director of the show, I met with the playwright in New York. The characters that he has written are in their late 30's. They are not physically "boys", but emotionally in many ways they are. You need to see the play to determine if they are on the paths to being "men" at the end.
