About 125 gay, Democratic activists turn out in Wilton Manors to protest Congressman Allen West

Updated:

Political writer Anthony Man of The Sun-Sentinel reports that about 125 gay and Democratic activists turned out in Wilton Manors Monday night to denounce conservative Congressman Allen West.

Two weeks ago, liberal gays and lesbians became outraged to learn that West -- well-known for speaking out against gay-rights causes -- would speak Aug. 8 at the Wilton Manors Business Association.

Wilton Manors Business Association President Celeste Ellich quickly canceled West's appearance and a new group, CoFFE (the Coalition for Fairness & Equality) formed. CoFFE sponsored Monday night's West protest.
