Politico reports that Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum has been turned down by Google after he asked the site to purge its primary search result for him:
Santorum
spreadingsantorum.com/
Santorum 1. The frothy mix of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex. 2. Senator Rick Santorum.
Google confirms to Politico that "users who want 'content removed from the Internet should contact the webmaster of the page directly.'"
The webmaster happens to be Savage Love advice columnist Dan Savage, who invented the online definition of "Santorum" after the then-Pennsylvania senator in 2003 compared homosexuality to bestiality and pedophilia.
"He should think about the kind of hate he injects into the body politic," Savage told The Miami Herald. "You can’t wage war on gay people and not expect us to fight back. He’s the classic bully and he’s shocked when you fight back."
Savage, who launched the gay "It Gets Better Project" anti-suicide campaign, says he'd be happy to accommodate Santorum, on one condition:
"I told him that if he donated $10 million to Freedom to Marry, I’d pull the site down," Savage says. "He better start scraping together the money."

My Goodness. As a Gay man I am embarrassed by the childishness of this Idiot...Yeah lowering yourself to the level of the gutter, will progress your cause...Typical of SOME Gay activists, they open their mouths and ruin any accomplishments we've made so far...If Mr. Savage was in front of me I'd have no problem telling him that he probably is the problem, more than Mr. Santorum.
Cheers,
John

Dan Savage is the man!
He is definitely the wrong gay dude to mess with!
But his offer to remove the site in exchange for a donation to a chosen charity borders on extortion.
Give Santorum hell, but be careful

You know Rick would rather whip up his own batch of fresh santorum than part with a dollar. I think he should get comfy with the definition of santorum since it will be in Websters dictionary for all of eternity. HA!

Right or wrong, it's a brilliant smear job. Removing it would be a form of political censorship, kudos to Google for not bowing to pressure.

I do sympathies with and understand those who are "embarrassed by the childishness." Let us however examine this entirety of the situation.
Santorium is a man who has made a name of himself by demonizing the homosexual community. He has used his pulpit to bully. He has done so over and over. Perpetuating in the minds of young the myth that something is wrong with them. He is a truly vile creature who does not deserve to be 'ignored' he deserves to be fought, to be stood up to. This is what Savage has done. Fought back. Now Santorium is becoming aware that his name will live on forever, not as his perhaps once proud family name, but as a vile definition befitting the name of a bully.
Mr. Savage has done so much for those young people who would otherwise feel alone in this world. He is certainly NOT part of the problem, he is indeed part of the solution. Good on you sir!

Mr. Santorum is within his rights to criticize gays for their unnatural sexual preferences when asked his position. As far as I am concerned it's o.k. to be gay but not to foist this creepy behavior off on the rest of us. Be a misfit in the closet and stop waving your stinky flag.
I will vote for him because he has the courage to speak for the overwhelming majority of voters on the subject.

Sounds like extortion and defamation. Disagreeing with someone's views doesn't give Mr. Savage the right to react in such a childish and unethical way.
