Cynthia Nixon: I'm bisexual and it's NOT a choice

Actress Cynthia Nixon tells Advocate.com today that she is bisexual and it is not a choice.

"While I don't often use the word, the technically precise term for my orientation is bisexual. I believe bisexuality is not a choice, it is a fact. What I have 'chosen' is to be in a gay relationship," says the former Sex and the City co-star, who's currently appearing in Wit, a play about a woman fighting ovarian cancer.

Nixon's statement to The Advocate comes a week after some LGBT activists criticized her for telling The New York Times that, for her, being a lesbian is a choice.

What does she mean it aint a choice, I`m not even speaking about being gay, just chose what you like, girls or boys, if you like both who`ll you merry?

The sad part about this piece is that Nixon has to be bamboozled into admitting she's a bisexual, a label which she was not comfortable with and is looked frown upon in our community.

I can not begin to tell you that the LGBT community, in one way or another, need to work together about acceptance. We tend to forget the B & T in our community and need to be just as supportive of their life's journeys as we would want them to be of ours.

Love has no boundaries and therefore one's gayness or straightness needs to ever be defined.
