Sunday night, Equality Florida honored me with its 2012 Voice For Equality award at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach.
Former Miami Herald Publisher David Lawrence Jr. presented the award and publicly read its inscription:
"Prejudice relies on the darkness and for 15 years you have been a light, always ensuring the stories of the LGBT community are told with honesty, fairness, and compassion."
Equality Florida also honored the Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce with its 2012 Equality Means Business award.
