Lesbian comic Poppy Champlin and Queer Queens of Qomedy to perform April 8-10 in South Florida

Lesbian comedian Poppy Champlin, now producer of the Queer Queens of Qomedy, has three shows this week in South Florida, sponsored by Human Rights Campaign (HRC). Here's the news release:

Poppy1There is a unique comedy revue that is touring the country with some of the funniest, edgiest, talented and most outrageous comics united by a single theme: The Queer Queens of Qomedy.

Producer and internationally known comedian Poppy Champlin artfully selects the best of the lesbian comics from across the country to join her at each venue. Now in it’s sixth year, Poppy and the QQQ are thrilled to announce that thw Human Rights Campaign, he largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans, has come on board as a sponsor of the 2012 tour.

Gearing up for a South Florida run, Poppy has tapped the infamous Vickie Shaw to headline this three-stop reign. Vickie Shaw is both a mother and grandmother and a favorite on Olivia Cruises. Vickie says, “I’m from Texas where the speed limit is a suggestion.”

The next and newest Queen to join this comedy troupe is Barb Neligan. A once-upon-a time writer for CMT, this Tennessean native tells hilarious stories of growing gay in a traditional Irish Catholic family in the Deep South. She also throws in a little banjo playing. When asked why she plays the banjo, she will tell you, “I’m from Nashville. It’s the law.”

All Hail the Queens!
