Gallup reports that 50 percent of Americans believe same-sex marriage should be legalized with the same rights as traditional marriage.
Q: Do you think marriages between same-sex couples should or should not be recognized by the law as valid, with the same rights as traditional marriage?
Last year, 53 percent supported gay marriage. (The maximum margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points.)
