Jim Parsons, the Emmy-winning star of CBS' The Big Bang Theory (he plays Sheldon), has come out in a New York Times profile of the actor.
Parson, who in 2011 starred in Broadway's revival of the AIDS drama The Normal Heart, opens June 14 in a revival of Harvey. He plays the James Stewart role, Elwood P. Dowd.
From Wednesday's New York Times:
“The Normal Heart” resonated with him on a few levels: Mr. Parsons is gay and in a 10-year relationship, and working with an ensemble again onstage was like nourishment, he said.
The news is not exactly a surprise: Parsons thanked his partner, Todd Spiewak, from the stage when he won the 2010 Emmy for lead actor in a comedy series.
