Sherman Helmsley, TV's George Jefferson, dies

Sherman Helmsley, George Jefferson to a generations of TV viewers, has died at 74, according to various news sources.

The Jeffersons an All in the Family spinoff co-starring Isabel Sanford as wife Louise, ran on CBS from 1975 to 1985.

"Honky" is a racial epithet. It was made popular in the 1970s by a man named George Jefferson. You see, he and his wife owned a dry-cleaning business, so they moved on up to the east side, to a deluxe apartment in the sky. They finally got a piece of the pie.

Why is this on a gay blog? Was Helmsley gay?
