Miami Log Cabin GOP: Christian Family Coalition fears being left behind in 'outdated culture war'

log cabinMiriam "Mimi" Planas and Eddie Sierra, co-directors of Log Cabin Republicans of Miami, are furious with a Christian Family Coalition email that blamed U.S. Rep. David Rivera's loss on his association with the gay GOP group.

"No credible Republican candidate will obey a fringe demand to ignore and marginalize a part of his or her community. Statements like this only prove that the CFC is worried that its outdated culture war is in danger of being left behind," Planas and Sierra write.

Here's their complete statement:

Log Cabin Republicans of Miami are not concerned by the Christian Family Coalition's threats, and neither should any Republican official. No credible Republican candidate will obey a fringe demand to ignore and marginalize a part of his or her community. Statements like this only prove that the CFC is worried that its outdated culture war is in danger of being left behind. Florida voters know that our military never needed to be 'protected' from patriot gay and lesbian service members, and they know that real family values include all families. Log Cabin Republicans of Miami will continue our efforts within the local Republican Party, doing our part to build a stronger, more inclusive GOP. We are thankful for Republican leaders who stand with us against such voices of intolerance.

We here at Log Cabin Republicans of Miami strongly believe in individual liberty and personal freedom, in every area of our lives.  We stand strong with our Republican allies as they understand the importance of a more inclusive GOP.  Mr. Rivera's unfortunate loss, we should add, had nothing to do with his meeting with Log Cabin Republicans of Broward, although CFC would scare you to think that it did.  There were many issues both candidates faced in that race.  We thank David Rivera and all other Republicans who are not afraid to stand up for what is right.

I wonder who the Log Cabinettes worked to elect this time? It surely wasn't those who oppose the religion (er, cult) based haters.

There they go again, it looks like the one who are really running scared are the Log Cabin "Republicans".

Think about it, if they really believed that CFC was being "left behind in outdated culture war", as they claim, why would they even bother to respond to our email.

No, their real concern is that their extremist agenda has been exposed for what it really is, one of hate, bigotry and intolerance against ALL people of faith, including Christians.

They will never admit they contributed to Congressman Rivera's loss because it doesn't fit their propaganda.
