Keith Haring was one of the 20th Century's most iconic artists, working in a sharp, energetic style that has become an enduring part of the American visual language. The celebrated pop artist, who died in 1990 at the age of 31, rose to fame with his graphic, thick-bordered human figures, which became some of the most recognizable symbols of New York City's downtown art scene in the 1980s. Haring's work ranged from graffiti in New York's subways to pieces in some of the world's most important museums. This retrospective -- hosted by world renowned art collector Martin Margulies and promoter Lee Schrager at the Design District's Moore Building -- brings together over 200 of Haring's works for the first time ever, including many from private collections that have never before been seen in public.
In honor of Haring’s steadfast commitment to AIDS activism, a portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to charity.
