Janice Langbehn marks 6 years since partner Lisa Pond died at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital

janice and lisaI received an email today from Janice Langbehn, whose longtime partner, Lisa Pond, died six years ago in Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Langbehn was not able to visit Pond in the hours before she died and the case led to national reforms regarding gay families and visitation rights.

Here's her email to me today:

Hi Steve,
Today is what I consider the anniversary of Lisa's death - since this was the day I was barred from seeing her again.  Her death certificate says the 19th since she wasn't pronounced for 18 hours.

I can't thank you enough for all the coverage in Miami over the years.  I know it made an impact and more importantly made an impact in my life.

A short fictionalized film "Quiet" has made the film festival circuit - now the director/writers are going to turn it into a full length feature film about our actual lives and story.  I have kept all your articles over the years so they have been invaluable as research as they work to get the chronology down.

Thank you again Steve.
