Frederica Wilson, Bill Nelson among few Democrats not to sign gay marriage-equality brief

Gay activists and allies won't soon be tipping their hats to U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami -- she's one of only 30 Democratic House members who this week didn't co-sign a marriage equality brief to the Supreme Court.

David Badash of The New Civil Rights Movement notes that Wilson and U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson are the only Florida Democrats in Congress who didn't offer their support.

Democratic Reps. Joe Garcia, Alcee Hastings, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Lois Frankel of South Florida all signed, as did GOP Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Miami, did not.

Nelson is one of 13 Democratic U.S. senators who didn't sign a brief.

Last year, SAVE Dade honored Nelson at its annual May fundraiser. Nelson told me at the time, “I have a record fighting against discrimination and standing up for people’s civil rights based on their sexual orientation."

Nelson wouldn't reveal his position on marriage equality. “I believe marriage should be left to the states, and Florida voted on same-sex marriage in 2008,” he said.

VOTE HER OUT! Do people like her want to force them back into the closet and worse yet, on the down low! She likes it that way. Don't ask, don't tell (if you've been having unprotected sex with men & women). If ignorance is bliss, she must be ecstatic. Stupid is as stupid does. I got mine (civil rights) too bad for you. I got mine (women's rights) too bad for you. I could go on and on, but if she is basing her vote on religion and the Bible, then VOTE HER OUT... she should base her vote on THE U.S. CONSTITUTION Does "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal...." If people who thought like her had their way she would not be in office for several reasons. Hypocrite. VOTE HER OUT she is a dinosaur.

Vote them both out!

Frederica Wilson and Bill Nelson are dinosaurs. Florida's future should start by electing a governor that respects gay marriage. Roger Stone is the only one in the field of possible candidates that has openly and boldly suggest the laws be changed. There is more about Roger Stone's fresh ideas at:

History is on our side. It's only a matter of time before the LGBT community is allowed to marry and then their votes on this issue will not matter.
