Florida state Sen. Eleanor Sobel, D-Hollywood, other lawmakers, business people and Equality Florida held a news conference Monday in Tallahassee in advance of a hearing Tuesday about Sobel's domestic partnership bill.
From NewsServiceFlorida.com:
People who are in long-term relationships but aren't married should have the same rights as married people, argue backers of a domestic partnership bill in the Legislature. The measure will be up for a vote in a Senate committee on Tuesday. It would give certain rights, like hospital visitation, to people, straight or gay, who are in a domestic partnership, but aren't married. Many people in domestic partnerships say they're denied the ability, for example, to visit a dying partner in the hospital.
