Broadway composer Jerry Herman ('Hello, Dolly!, 'Mame,' 'La Cage') turns 82 (with tribute video)

Happy 82nd birthday, Jerry Herman!

Herman, a University of Miami graduate, composed the scores to some of Broadway's most successful musicals, including Hello, Dolly!, Mame and La Cage aux Folles.

In 2010, Kennedy Center Honors bestowed a medal on Herman. Here is the accompanying tribute (uploaded by a fan to YouTube three years ago) featuring stars including Carol Channing, Angela Lansbury, Chita Rivera -- and the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington.
