To celebrate the event, which honors LGBT activist and Star Trek co-star George Takei and former SAVE Dade board chairman Joseph Falk, the Task Force will host a preview party Thursday night at Neiman Marcus in Bal Harbour Shops.

Neiman Marcus' Men's Fashion Director Matthew Singer will be in attendance and will present this season's top trends, which feature bold jewel tones, stunning outerwear including the velvet jackets, motorcycle jackets and cardigans, and fabulous accessories such as textured shoes. At last year’s dinner, more than 35 sponsors and approximately 800 guests contributed to another record-breaking year. In total, the event grossed well over $500,000—making it the most successful Miami Recognition Dinner in Task Force history. Attendees will also have the opportunity to bid on amazing auction items, purchase tickets and tables to this year’s dinner taking place on Saturday, November 9 at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

About Miami Recognition Dinner
The 17th Annual Miami Recognition Dinner, presented by Wells Fargo, takes place at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach on Saturday, November 9, 2013. This annual fundraising event honors individuals for their outstanding contributions to the social, cultural, political and humanitarian needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. This year’s honorees include famed actor, author and social justice activist George Takei, who will receive the 2013 National Leadership Award, and civic leader Joseph L. Falk, who will receive the 2013 Eddy McIntyre Community Service Award. Over the years, the Dinner and its sister event the Winter Party Festival, have raised approximately $2.85 million for South Florida grassroots LGBT organizations.
