Michael Urie to tour in ‘Buyer & Cellar,’ about fictional actor who works in Barbra Streisand’s cellar

Actor Michael Urie greets my partner, Ric Katz, and me following a performance Tuesday night of Buyer & Cellar, an Off-Broadway comedy by Jonathan Tolins.

In Buyer & Cellar, Urie gives a wonderful one-man performance as Alex More, a fictional gay actor who takes a job working in Barbra Streisand’s cellar.

Urie (Mark St. James of Ugly Betty) has performed the show about 300 times and leaves the Off-Broadway production in March. He’ll then take Buyer & Cellar on the road for at least a few months, he says.

Buyer & Cellar will continue until Aug. 31 at the Barrow Street Theatre in New  York’s West Village.
