Miami Dolphins safety Don Jones, suspended for tweeting “omg” and “horrible” in reaction to the nationally televised kiss Michael Sam shared with his boyfriend during NFL Draft weekend, is back with the team.

Jones has completed team-mandated sensitivity training; the second-year player was also fined an undisclosed amount.

Jones’ tweets, which were summarily deleted, became a national story in the days after draft. When the Rams took Sam in the seventh round May 10, he became the first openly gay player ever drafted.

Both general manager Dennis Hickey and coach Joe Philbin were quick to condemn Jones’ tweets, with Philbin calling them “inappropriate and unacceptable.”

Jones has since apologized for the remarks, saying: “I take full responsibility for them and I regret that these tweets took away from his draft moment.”
