Miami Beach Gay Pride 2013 2013-04-14 333Tens of thousands of LGBT people and allies from throughout South Florida and elsewhere celebrated Miami Beach Gay Pride on Sunday along Ocean Drive.

Above right, Miami Beach Mayor Matti Herrera Bower, Sunday's parade grand marshal, poses with American Idol superstar Adam Lambert, who received a key to the city and sang Sunday night on the beach.

Other parade celebrities included U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Weston, and national radio-TV personality Enrique Santos.

Unity Coalition supporters jammed the Art Deco Welcome Center on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach on Thursday for the annual Leaders, Legends & Lovelies Ball.

Leaders, Legends & Lovelies 2013 2013-04-11 091This year’s recipients: Walker Burttschell for his activism in repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell and other LGBT campaigns; Miami Gay Men's Chorus director Anthony Cabrera; Sandra Holiday, who created the Anita Priest Whispering Angels fund to help LGBT Youth; HIV/AIDS activist Maria Mejia; philanthropist Edward Oberle-Lopez; and WSVN-Channel 7 news anchor Craig Stevens.

Special guests included Good Morning America weather anchor Sam Champion and his husband, artist Rubem Robierb; original Village People member Randy Jones; and celebrity stylist Samy Suarez.

Artist Marcelo Holzinger designed the event's 2013 poster, titled 'Love is Love.'

Gay chamber mixer - MB Gay Pride 2013-04-09 016The Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday held a mixer at the Shore Club Hotel that benefitted Miami Beach Gay Pride.

The chamber unveiled its new Pride Issue of Clarity, the LGBT business group's quarterly magazine.

Pride Week continues with an outdoor screening 8 p.m. Wednesday of The Princess Bride, part of Soundscape Outdoor Movie Night with the Family @ New World Center. The free event is at 500 17th St., Miami Beach.

Video | Rainbow flag raised at City Hall to mark opening of 2013 Miami Beach Gay Pride Festival

Miami Beach Gay Pride committee members on Monday launch the fifth annual 2013 festival by raising a rainbow flag outside Miami Beach City Hall.

Miami Beach Gay Pride - rainbow flag at City Hall 2013-04-08 004Speakers include Babak Movahedi, chairman of Miami Beach Gay Pride; Miami Beach Commissioners Jorge Exposito and Michael Gongora.

After the flag raising, the Pride committee toasted its long-term "legacy" couples, some who've been together nearly 50 years.

On Tuesday, the Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce will host a Gay Pride mixer 6 to 9 p.m. at the Shore Club Hotel pool, 1901 Collins Ave. $5 chamber members; $15 nonmembers.

The ball takes place during Miami Beach Gay Pride week.
