@patriciaborns  Organizers of a Miami-Dade coalition pressing for Medicaid expansion emerged from a meeting this afternoon determined to up the stakes in their protest outside State Rep. Manny Diaz's Hialeah office on Friday, Sep. 20.

"We decided today that enough is enough. We're going to sit in his office until he speaks with us," said organizer Deborah Dion, who along with other members have tried by e-mail and phone to get a hearing to air their views with Rep. Diaz for three months.

"We just want to have a discussion with him on the subject of Medicaid expansion. A lot of state reps who disagree with us have allowed us to come in and talk with them. That's the point we're trying to make here," Dion said.

The coalition of 35 unions and community organizations from across Miami-Dade County plan to "sit-in" at 11:15 on Friday in Diaz's office until he speaks with them, leaves, or calls the police to try to have them removed.
