Want health insurance starting March 1? This is for you.

Consumers seeking a health plan that starts on March 1 need to enroll by February 15.

Don't put it off to the last minute, because on Saturday February 15, 2014 at 3:00PM until Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 5:00AM, the Social Security Administration will be performing its annual systems maintenance activities. During this period, the site's data services hub will be unavailable so it won't be possible to verify Social Security Numbers and related data,

All other services of the Hub will be functioning as normal.

What this means for you:

If you've already completed an application and know if you qualify for tax credits, you're all set.

If you want coverage effective March 1, 2014, and aren’t able to complete your enrollment online by February 15th, call 1-800-318-2596 starting February 18 to request coverage beginning March 1.  Someone will work with you to get covered.

Remember, you have until March 31 to sign up for new coverage during this year’s open enrollment period.
