Need a health plan in Cutler Bay? Assisters have extended their hours.

People-standing-in-line
The March 31st deadline for the Affordable Care Act enrollment is here and the staff at Community Health of South Florida Inc. (CHI) say they've never been busier helping people get covered.

Because of the surge in demand for enrollment assistance, CHI will hold extended enrollment hours today from 8:30am to 8pm at the Doris Ison Center 10300 SW 216 St. Miami FL 33190.

Outreach and enrollment assistants worked through the weekend to help sign people up under the federal marketplace. In the weeks leading up to this point, the staff skipped lunch to attend to people standing on line waiting to enroll.

The government has granted an extension for those who have attempted to enroll by March 31st. So this deadline is still a critical date.

CHI has 19 outreach and enrollment assistants under a federal grant, one of the largest grants in the country that was awarded to a federally qualified health center. The enrollment assistants have been based all over South Florida from the Keys to South Dade and Miami.
